At.the.recent.SEMA.show toyota built and displayed a live axled current shape Tacoma dressed up in mid 80's styling.

Incorporating an 80series landcruiser front end.....im hoping toyota is gauging the reaction to as hopefully a trigger to live axle their pickup truck range.

If so.....my hilux is for sale as soon as i know they are coming.

what are your thoughts on this?

easy 4inch lifts.....some trimming.....315's slapped on :shock:

mmaaxx, i would love them to go this way but the real question is why would they do it?
I think the day of the live axle in a the front of a Toyota 4wd is long gone!!! :lol:

Didn't they offer live and independent front ends in 100 Series LandCruisers for a while?

They might well offer it as an option, couldn't see them switching to it completely?

I'd buy one!

Nice thoughts Max, but I would'nt bank on it happening, especially given that we can't even get access rear doors on a Xtra-cab Lux in these regions..............!!!

Besides, in recent years, when has Toyota ever listened to customers to build what they want....????

(case in point - build a Xtra/double cab 70 series ute........)

But yeah - it'd sell like hotcakes to those that actually use 4WDs off-road.

Personally, I'd be happy enough for them to just bring back a LN 106 Hilux with the new motor in it........!!!

I share your sentiments.

To me the LN106 Hilux was a real off roader with leaf springs all round and fantastic ground clearance.

Hook it up to a 1KD-FTV or even the older 1KZ-TE engine and she's fundamentally ready.

Brendon, I've still got a 1995 double-cab - 355km on the clock & still going well!! If Toyota can recreate it with the new motor & coil springs F & R, I'd happily back-order one for delivery.........

Like your 70series, extra cab, (suicide doors), V8 oiler (200 spec's), Coils all round, Long Range tank, Snorkel, Winch Bar, Suspension lift options, Huge GVM, all offered as stock.

Put me on that list as well. I will take the dual cab option automatic. With front and rear lockers with a tub and canopy as well.
