Modifications |
* Philips X-treme Power H4 +80 60/55w headlight globes with el-cheapo headlight harness loom from my previous ute. Replaced with HID H4/35w 4300k lights. * Toyota Thailand fender mirror * Nippon tint film (they don't work effectively now after 6 years) * Flat Top hard lid cover * Thai made floor mats - complete set of 8 pieces. Rear 3 pieces, front 5 pieces and covers the sides of the front console too. * Sunland Dash Mate * Thule roof load carrier bars * Thule wind fairing * Autometer #4304 turbo boost gauge in psi reading * VDO EGT pyrometer gauge in Fahrenheit reading (probe post-turbo at dump pipe) * Autometer ATF temperature gauge in Celsius reading (temperature sender installed pre-external cooler) * PermaCool ATF cooler #1014 * Icom V8000 VHF mobile radio capable of transmitting at 75w * Diamond M150GS 1/4 wave antenna & M285 5/8 antenna with base spring * Bushranger Max-Air portable air compressor * Safari snorkel SS120HF * SR5 alloy spare wheel replacing the steel spare * Custom made rear recovery hooks * Bilstein front damper struts BE5-D563 * Bilstein monotube rear shocks BE5-D564 * Toyota Thailand bonnet struts * ARB deluxe steel winch bar * ARB E-Z tyre deflator (hardly used, too cumbersome) * IPF 900 driving lights in driving beam white lens. 200mm diameter H3 100w bulbs. My Lightforce 170's were stolen by some bastards. * EFS TPR-104E coil springs (retired the King Springs KTFR-101 which was on the Lux for 4 years and sagged about 9mm) * Garmin 60CSX handheld GPS with RAM mount system * Front, ADD & rear differential breathers system by the one & only Skoggy from newhilux.net * Greasable standard length leaf spring shackles with Superpro urethane bushes * GFB turbo boost controller - boost now at 20 psi at 3rd/4th gear. Standard boost was at 12 psi * Hella Supertone horns (much better over original horn) * DBA 4000 series slotted disc rotors 42714SL/SR * Steel braided brake hose front & extended 2" length rear steel braided brake hose. * Maxxis Bighorn MT762 muddies 31x10.5x15LT * Active sub-woofer 10" el-cheapo from China (MBQ) * Unichip Dastek chip with built in boost cut controller & 5 selectable MAP settings. (Much better than DPchip) * 1 kg fire extinguisher mounted on the bed with Quickfist clamps * Rear leaf springs - removed 1 leaf from the original APM leaf spring pack & replaced with 2 pieces of short leaves. The leaves sits at the bottom of the leaf spring pack giving a very mild lift (+10mm) to the rear and at the same time softening the ride. Much better ride compared to the original. * SmartGauge OBD reader (similar to Scangauge)Smartgauge died in early 2014. * Wurth sound proofing material to all 4 doors * Custom exhaust dump pipe & free flowing muffler * LED map & dome lights, LED parkers & rear licence plate * FMIC (front mounted intercooler) 450mm x175mm x 70mm * Racor 230R fuel filter as the primary fuel filter followed by the genuine Toyota fuel filter as the secondary/final filter (flow rate of 114LPH). Filter R20T 10 micron * Oil catch can vented to atmosphere * Rear LED 27w reverse lamp mounted below rear bumper with manual on/off switch * K&N air filter removed and went back to original Toyota air filter as I travel on dusty roads and the K&N does not do so well on dusty roads. * Masada bottle jack as the original Toyota jack is a PITA to use and can't lift the Lux up. Even with the Masada I have 2 small wooden blocks to use as the base for the jack. Hi-lift jack can only be used at the front on the ARB bar but the sidesteps and the rear bumper are the original item and will not accommodate the hi-lift. |

Future Modifications |
|
I think I am more or less done with the major mods to my Lux.
I don't do hardcore anymore so a winch and a rear locker wouldn't justify the cost.
I hardly use my Lux now as I work out of town. My son, Austin is getting his driving license soon when he turns 17 on boxing day.
He's claiming the Lux as his!
Update: My son is using the Lux now and I hardly get to drive it now! |

Other info: |
|
The engine is a D4D 2KD-FTV 2.5 litre turbo diesel without the intercooler.
Unfortunately in this part of the world we did not have the D4D 1KD-FTV 3.0 litre turbo intercooled engine until 2010.

Shane308, It's there mate. Mine's a auto trans, so the gear shift is just below the 4wd selector.

sr06, Thanks for writing in. You could post on the forum and we'll be mre than happy to help you out. 31" tyres should not rub on standard suspension. I do not recommend the 4" lift as it's on the extreme side and the CV angles would be very steep. You can do a search and just post in one of the many suspension threads and we'll come in with our comments and input. Cheers
