G'day All. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the headlights on the 06 hilux please . Mine are way too high, even with no load. Cheers:-)

I had a good look, and it's easy. Two adusters on the back of each light on which you can use a screwdriver to notch them around or a socket (about 10mm I think). The adjusters on the outside do the up and down, and the inner ones move the lights laterally.

Hmmm....I got flashed too while driving in the rural areas at night. There are no street lights on the roads and it's very dark.

I did change my headlight bulbs from the original Hella H4 60/55w to Philips +30 60/55w though. Wanted the +50 but couldn't find it! I did feel that the Philips +30 is marginally brighter.

I really need to install a pair of driving lights since the high beam isn't good enough for me when I drive in the rural area. Maybe it's because my eyes are not what they used to be! I'm 40!

I have 2 pairs of PIAA driving lights from my previous rigs but can't find a bloody place to install them as I have no bullbar yet!

It's a real PITA!

Cheers mates

I have not adjusted mine down... and i would not think that a three inch lift would cause that much of an issue... maybe your front is too high compared to your rear??? maybe at teh lights it could be a slight problem... what globes are you running?? Anyway to answer your question...I have not looked myself... but there will be a couple of small screw adjusters under the bonnet in the light assemblies themselves... you may have to remove the battery to see the left ones... but the right ones should be easy enough to get to....as I said.. you will just have to look carefully.. and have the lights on wen you adjust them... I think the regs are 100mm lower than the centerline at 10 meters... so measure the center of the light... then transfer that to a wall 10 meters away.. the beam should be 100mm lower than the mark center for center... I hope that helps... I know its a bit confusing... Cheers TOMUCH

headlight adjustment

I used a headlight adjuster at work and measured them up against the headlights and adjusted them accordingly. Your local toyota dealer should have one of these headlight adjusters.

Behind the headlights, there are 2 screws, one more so to the side. 1 of them adjusts the up and down, and the other adjusts the left and right.

I found that you need to do both with a lifted hilux as the up and down one only goes so far, and somehow the other one after adjusted, helps you lift it the little bit more......

hope that makes sense? :-)

If not just take it to the dealer and they should do it, it'd only take 5-10mins to do it right, thats if they know what they are doing.

Oh, by the way, if your headlights are bothering anyone and they are out of wack, when the oncoming traffic high beams ya, just make sure those 240XGT's are aimed correctly so you can blind the hell out of them...8-)

That'd make em think twice 8-)

mmaaxx,
I like the part where you use the 240XGT's and blind the hell out of them! hi..hi..

My previous Bundera had 35" tyres and 4" suspension lift . The headlight were aimed quite high due to the lift and I was behind a Toyota Corolla at the traffic lights. When the lights turned green, the fella took off very slowly and was driving on the right lane. I could not overtake him as the left lane had other vehicles. I was on his back for a few minutes and after I lost my patience, I let go the high beam (130w) followed by the Hella driving lights with 100w globes. The f***er reluctantly moved to the left and when I overtook him, he blasted me back with his high beams.8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) Now, that wasn't the end of it..... he tailed me and wasn't very pleased that my lights were so high! I think he gave me the three finger salute!8-) 8-) 8-)

I just ignored him and drove away. However, I felt a little guilty that my lights were aimed too high.
Cheers

Your a bit higher than most others.

Notice they said you had an Ultimate lift in the mag and not the Climax which you have, there where a few other mistakes in the article as well I noticed.

Headlight adjustment

Postby Higherlux on Tue, 11 Mar 2008 1:13 +0000

Since raising the front end using Prado springs( it looks awesome!), I noticed people flashing me at night, like i had my high beam on. I was thinking my lights are probably aimed right at them, rather than being dipped. I even had a truck going off at me.I did have the driving lights on, but they are not that bright (are they?)Can you still adjust headlight direction like the old days? How?

I had the same, people in front of me holding their hand (sometimes the middle finger) over their rear view mirror......A quick burst of the high beams sends them off into the scrub like a stunned possum Ha Ha!

I recently had a look at my headlights at eye level and you can see what they are complaining about, they are BRIGHT! 8-)
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

There are 2 adjusters for each headlight, 1 is for left/right the other up/down. A bit of fiddling should let you know which is which. When I did mine I marked the parts with a texta so I knew where the start point was if I got lost.
