Evolution - Bluemax were fine, didn't drop much at all. I think my early springs on the rear didn't hold up too well but the new ones don't have a problem. I'm fairly happy with it.

McSumway - Yep sure is the ARB rear bar. I could get some closeup pics if you want them? which will give you an idea as to how it's done. It's very strong how they put it together onto the bar.

The roof top tent is great if you don't like staying at the same spot more than once or if you don't want to go too far. It does become annoying on club trips I have found when we have night navs! I am thinking of putting it onto a trailer, which would be ideal.

Hi Dave, I am a new member in WA. I have noticed you have the blue max suspension from K&N did yours drop much with the bar/battery fitted?. I am considering blue max or the ridepro lift with an ARB commercial winch bar and rails.

No 1 thanks for this great resource. Is that swingaway only attached to the ARB rear bar? I'm looking to do something similar.

Ooops, will continue; First off- Great site and thanks for putting in the work for it. Second- How do you find the roof top tent set up?? Is it a pain once set because you can't move?? I think thats the only downer I can see. Other wise the small rack configuration with the tent set up behind certainly looks good. Cheers again Skeney

Hi Dave: Could you please let me know if the standard sidesteps on the LUX would withstand serious dune driving as I am planning a trip through the Namib Desert (Luderits to Walvisbaai 750km)?. Do you think perhaps that I must get rock sliders like the ones from ONCA (www.onca4x4.co.za) or BURNCO (www.panelbeaters.co.za) or maybe the sidesteps from ARB for the trip? Please any information would be appreciated. Regards, Danny.

A guy in RSA where I live actually owe me money and he is the dealer for Ironman in George Where I live, but I dont want to install to my Lux if it is not good!

Danny, I am not sure about Ironman, I've heard some negative feedback about them though... I would honestly either go Bluemax or Ultimate Suspensions lift kits... They seem to be pretty good in my opinion... Obviously if you want to spend the cash, take a look at Bilstein, they have had some good reports.

Wade, I have the water tank on top of the black widow draws snug up next to the window, it is not any higher than the window so doesnt look out of place.. run a small bit of hose down through to the back with a proper tap on the back, will post up photos soon!

The strut was snapped at the base where the thin rod part connects to the lower part of the shock at the bottom, must have had a dodgy weld, but it's all fixed now under warranty and now very happy!

Mionca, I was wondering when someone was going to ask me about that one!! No, that is lower than usual because I snapped a strut tower in half. Was all replaced under warranty though, they're not really the strongest these IFS Hilux front-ends :)

Hi Stu, You don't get much lift, mine was about 30mm all-round but for the quality and value, they were fairly good, the ride comfort is so much better now and they handle the extra weight of my winch/barwork/draws etc much better. If you want good lift, speak to ATS4WD in Melbourne about their 45-50mm lift kits, they use Bilsteins but you pay top dollar for it, they're a really good suspension setup for the Hilux and I will most probably go that way myself shortly.

Stu

Sorry mate you are running with Blue Max. let me rephrase myself. How have u found Blue Max. Did you just do the shocks?

Stu

Comment:

how have u found the OME suspension. I've had mixed views on how well the kits have been for other drivers. I'm looking at fitting an aftermarket kit to my SR DualCab and just wondered how much lift you actually get from ARB OME suspension.
