Instrument light dimmer

I find one of the more annoying Toyota production cost cuts to the SR is no instrument dimmer. Well, I can't find one anyway...is it in there somewhere? Very distracting on long night drives. What are my chances of connecting something up, anybody else thought about it?

Geez that has to suck. I am only assuming but there could be a plug in there so you can get one, I doubt the wiring harness is different but ya never know.

Yeah, I'll drop in to the local toyota spares and ask if the SR5 one will plug in. Thanks Dave.

Duges,

We also don't get the dimmer for our Hilux over here and there is only 1 version.

I would reckon it's somewhere between the poverty pack and the SR5.

LOL.... Pls keep us posted as I would be very interested in the dimmer.
Cheers

if you don't mind pulling the dash appart you may be able to just put some lower wattage globes in :-)

Its the stereo as well and with the large LCD panel it really adds to the fatigue factor when driving long distance at night.

I already unplugged the light power source for the locker swiches as they are even brighter than the dash!!!!

i am interested in this aswell.

What we need is a Toyota Parts list for the lux.
does the workshop manual come with this??
least we could then just rock in to yota, with our left kidney, and purchase the part number of choice.

Im dragging up an old post here to see if anyone (us SR owners) has found a solution to the instrument light dimmer?

I just picked up my SR dual cab this afternoon and have just gone out to see what the interior looks like at night. Most disappointed in the white lighting of the dash and more so the lack of dimmer. :(

GUys I do not know if this is the right part number.. but give Toyota a call and see if it is right... its the part number for the light control rheostat.. .maybe you can just plug it in.. you never know.. I have the SR5 so I have no need to try it .. but pending on the cost.. it might be worth a shot.. I would assume that the wiring is there regardless of model...

Part No 90980-10825

I would be very interested since we have a part number already.

We only need to know the cost of the dimmer and hopefully the wiring loom is already there.

Cheers
