I do like these also and they can look good with the right mods. Not enough seats or room for me though unfortunately :(

Unfortunately the FJ wouldnt be anywhere near as capable off road as the Heep, being IFS and more road orientated it would need to be suitable to replace the Prado and unfortunately its just as far from being able to do that. While they look cool they dont tick any of the boxes I would need ticked to buy one.

If I was to make sacrifices for an all rounder to replace the Heep and the Prado, Toyota dont make anything that would even come close anymore. I hate to say it but a 4 door Jeep would be at the top of my list :?

Yeah you are right boof i see where your comming from.

Would love one of these Fj's but would be hard to justify living without a tray back, mean i'd need to trailer my bike every weekend! If only someone would make a solid axel dual cab ute.

Any idea on price yet Max?

Originally I think I read it was going to be priced in competition with the 4 door JK jeeps? (Around the $40k). I hope this will be the case.

How would I know Twisty ?

all the reviews say that it'll start round 40grand mark.....sounds bout right....

going by the 50mm rule, you can legally (and physically with some minor trimming) fit 33.5" tyres with no lift.

I reckon thats awesome by itself! considering the Prado, FJ Cruiser and Hilux share the same running gear I wonder if it would be feasable to argue with an engineer that if the FJ can run 32's standard then surely with the same drivetrain as hilux we could engineer 33-34" tyres?

wishful thinking.

http://news.drive.com.au/drive/sydney-motor-show/fj-cruiser-toyotas-fifth-offroader-20101011-16f6c.html

Toyota's off-road family is set to grow with the imminent arrival of the FJ Cruiser, which will be shown at the 2010 Sydney motor show before going on sale for about $40,000.

David Buttner, Toyota’s Australia senior executive director of sales and marketing, refused to speculate on the price of the FJ Cruiser, but it sells for less than the $40k-plus Kluger in the United States, suggesting it should sell for less than that.

so might sell for less than 40K depending on the exchange rate....thats pretty good!

However, unlike the premium priced Prado two-door – which sells from a hefty $55,990 plus on-road costs – the FJ Cruiser is expected to be more attractively priced thanks to more favourable exchange rates, giving it a chance against the likes of the Jeep Wrangler, which sells more on its rugged styling than its off-road prowess.

bwahahahahaha! wheres Boof? Im sure he'd disagree with the journalist here that the FJ is better offroad than the the new Jeep
