New Model 4 Runner in US doing the Rubicon

Postby Hilux Max on Thu, 15 Oct 2009 2:20 +0000

I dont know about you but I dont mind the look of the new 4 Runner and the equipement level and performance offroad is pretty damn impressive for a standard vehicle.

In the video below all it has extra to stock was a set of muddies and some sliders -

holy s%$# they beat that new design with every ugly stick in the catalogue! What are the designers thinking.

We should start a petition now or some sort of lobby group on behalf of hilux owners to prevent them from butchering the next model!

Each to their own mate, I think it looks ok and would love to own one if they bring them into Aus.

OH, wait hasn't the 200 and 150 series increased in price to enable another vehicle to slide into the gap of a mid priced Toyota, taking on the likes of the new challenger.

Very similar spec levels (including the rear diff lock) GAME ON.

Be nice to see it in Australia, I don't mind it.

I do quite like the look of them, but having said that it will be a long time before I update any of my current 4wds. The new ones just keep on getting softer and softer and for me between the Prado and the Lux I have most of my 4wd needs met, well until I finally get to build my buggy.

The new 4 runner is shares the exact same components as the new prado and will be the same platform for the new FJ Cruiser coming out end of next year which we will be getting.....oops, did I just say that out loud ;)

The new 4Runners are nice but I still prefer the Fortuners. I drove one around the Philippines about 3 weeks ago and fell in love. With the Hilux front end and drive line, a wagon for rear and rear coil springs, as far as i’m concerned they are the new surfs and sexy as hell. Especially the armoured plated one I was driving ;)

Hahaha, here you go max. The bottom pic shows a bit of the interior and you can see the extra bits coming in from the armoured plating. It's not the full armour plating like what's available on the other vehicles, but it's still resistant to hand gun fire and most rifles. I wish the Fortuners were sold in Australia and if extra funds do come available I will be trying my best to get one in for "R&D"

I like the Fortuner but it looks too much like a Honda MDX the runners look good imo.

When I was in Dubai, one of their local Toyota Dealers told me the new Fortuner is being released in November this year. He said he heard a rumour that it is coming to Australia to. It would make sense as the Fortuner is already right hand drive and is called a 4Runner in some south American Countries. The new design is meant to be very similar to the FJ and Current 4Runner. It sounds very close to the one mentioned in the other thread about the new “FJ” coming.

By the way. That is one awesome 4Runner!
