New ARB Commercial Bar

Postby Hilux Max on Tue, 07 Jul 2009 12:58 +0000

Guys,

Just found this, thought Id share......

ARB have just released a new Commercial Combination Bar as they call it....looks like an entry level bar, heres the download brochure.....

http://www.arb.com.au/resources/pdf/products/ARB_HiLuxCCBar_June2009_Website.pdf

I cant beleive how low they have made it sit compared to the other ARB winchbars in the range.....instead of rasing it abit higher and using the under headlight moulding the other bars use, looks like they just cut the top portion of the bumper off and used that instead.

My opinion...I reckon this might be the new genuine bar toyota will be selling for the hilux very soon since ARB has taken over the contract for it because of the previous mob, BOCAR, going bust due to the prado chassis crack problems....

Looks a bit like a combination of the Alloy and Protector (Stainless/White Bar) IronMan Bullbars.

I think the stock rims are 7 inch, so technicaly you shoul dnot be putting anything more than 245 (31's) on them. But I have seen people do it.. Cheers TOMUCH

G'day Tomuch, going by the pic its a SR,so its a 16x6 inch rim. Just wondering what size coopers they have fitted to it, as Im looking for a tyre to fit the stock rims of my SR. Being a 16x6 inch rim not to many options. But I like the look of those coopers.

Fair go guys, the reason the bar hangs so low is to cover those Ginormous chassis rail ends that hang down so low on our truck. If the bar was not there the chassis rails would be in full view and that looks pretty ugly.

What's wrong with it?
It fits onto the chassis rails so doesn't cantilever. Winch is mounted nice and low so shouldn't twist the bullbar off. Looks like it will take the ARB (or anyones) siderails if you wanted to make it more solid.
I still wouldn't want to smack anything with it though, but it will probably hold antenna and spot lights better than the genuine bars.

Judging by the offset I reckon those are 120 series Prado rims so 17x7.5

Funny how ARB release a bar that looks much like TJM and TJM have just released a bar that looks more like the ARB one
I have nothing good to say down here so I wont say anything at all

At the end of the day, if it becomes Toyota's new factory steel bar it has a lot better approach angles than the current steel/ alloy ones!

That's what I reckon anyway!

I second that presumption mate.....and you'll see that at the front wheel picture, you can see the space between the innder edge of the rim and the disc....on a 15x7 steelies there wouldnt be any space there....

17x7.5 Prado steelies for sure with 265/65x17's....or 60x17's...thats my guess.

If it sat up higher like a normal ARB bar. it might be worth looking into for some people....then again, anything better than the factory offerings has got to be better.

G'day All,

Warren I second your theory of TJM vs ARB and vice versa.

Having a new model TJM bar it's exactly what I thought.

Cheers,

I dont mind it....dont like the fact that it keeps some of the trimmed standard bumper.

Looks like Ryano at Fourbys has a white one of these going cheap at the moment too. $1300.

they are a cheap bar, designed and priced to appeal to mining and fleet customers,ie.customers that insist on having a bullbar for OHS reasons and don't care about looks.price is the only factor.
this bar is trying to take on all the other cheap bars on the market.

Mate that is exactly what ARB told me. I saw it when I had mine fitted, they were getting it ready for the photo shoot.

If you want to have a look it lives at ARB St Peters store (Sydney)

It looks exactly like a TJM bar. TJM were well known for leaving part of the standard bumper on and cutting level across it, rather then just finishing at the headlights and using the (in my case on my white lux) black infil panels. Not only have they cut it, but they're using rubber on it so it looks like a backyard job. Whats worse is that in the picture theyve got a SR lux with flares and bar on, yet they cant even put on the little part of the flare that is usually on the SR5 bottom bumper to create a flow on effect from flare to bullbar

Very poor product. Not happy at all. It just doesn't have that 'zing' of an ARB bar about it. I'll stick to my ECB alloy bar that came with the lux
Cheers,
Luke
