I'd certainly like to know more about it too. Stands to reason though - Toyota usually gives them a update / facelift every 3 years, so is coming up due.

I seem to remember my dealer telling me that there was a change in the ADR rules coming about the same time. Coincidence? facelift might be compliance features.

At a guess I would say the face lift would be minor, maybe grill, lights and bumper much like the Forrunner.

They would more then likely change the interior and offer higher specs.

Think how much Toyota changed the Hilux from 1985 to 2004 or the Hiace van from 1989 to 2003.

Spoke to a dealer - changes for SR5 are:

Stereo controls on steering wheels
Cruise on manuals
New alloys (still 15's)
New front bar (will be grey and chrome - I guess TRD like?)

On a side note - I AM PISSED
I called my dealer (I have an SR5 on order) he denied any facelift (dunno if he's bullsh%ting or just is out of the loop). Told him that I dont want a new car that will be the old model as soon as I get it.
Going to lay down the law I think - facelift or I walk.
Any suggestions?

As far as update or minor changes go, AUG 07' saw a swag of minor changes and updates. Power mirrors windows and cruise control for some models, minor engine changes for the D4D, different body options like colour coding door handles and mirrors changed on some models, bumpers changed from all black on all SR to only on some, some badges were changed too if you look really closely. Drink holders that previously werent in all models suddenly were.

I had read on a Toyota owners website that there were no changes at all to all Aust models this year ? ?

Subaru did it to me when I bought my Forester, 2 months later they announce a facelift/new model. (previous to the latest model out)

Yeah Im spewing they dont do cruise on the manual SR. I got everything else you got.
I think Id have a hard time convincing my boss to part with $900 for AutronCruise.
Mine is also a Dec07' build Jan08' compliance plate.

Pity that its only Ford / Mazda offering 5 speed autos on their utes ex Thailand assembly. Hilux & others are well overdue for it too........

10k
I asked, but still the 4 speed.
The bumper seems to be the big change - just an updated look, so it should be an easy change if anyone wanted to update their's.

The 4 speed Auto is annoying.

I have no idea why they want to stick with a 4 spped auto in the diesel, or why they even put it in there to start with when they have a suitable 5 speed auto they use in the Prado.

Hey Redlux,

How sure is your dealer with the upgrade features on the SR5 as you mention. Especially the one with steering wheel audio controls?

Because toyota's press kit website hasn't released any details yet on a upgrade. Maybe in the near future? I don't know.

Anyway if they do, do a upgrade as mention with wheels i'm guessing they'll be the one's from hilux invincible in Great Britain which are 15 inch. Grill will be most likely be a add on centre grill plate, which you can buy on ebay anyway.

This is my opinion on this anyway, but if any other members are curious just look at other toyota websites from Thailand, Malaysia, & Great Britain, to check out what comes standard & opitions on Hilux's released in other countries. Try the toyota world wide web site, www.toyota.co.jp/worldwide. Hope this helps. :-)
