I just got 750km out of a tank.

I got 630 km from my last tank.

Why the change you may ask?
I pumped up my tyres from 35 psi to 40 psi!!!!!!

Amazing difference isn't it!

8-)

No worries Rockman... I setup an easy to use application for my PDA to punch the info in when refueling. Works great for pinpointing issues or trends in driving (IE - It uses more when my lead footed wife who thinks the only way to get to 60 is within 2 seconds) ... But your right... It is anal...
Cheers

rockman,
i doesnt sound right, you should be getting at least 650-700 i am guessing.
i would get toyota to look at the computer as it is telling you the wrong figures from the start, it sounds more like figures for a petrol than turbo diesel...Glenn

Hi i have sr5 td man with standard size tyres with 50000km on clock. It's leased so every month i get fuel economy statment. Most of my driving is done out of town (i live in country) toe a boat occasionally plus a bit of 4wdriving & have averaged 10L/100k over this distance. The trip computer is not very acurate compared to my statement. It's always reading low

I have a D4D 07 Auto, my trip computer says I am getting 11L/100k around town unladen but that as I am running 31' tyres I assume that is not accurate.
Not trying to hijack this thread but a work collegue is driving a 100 series deisel Landcruiser and he reckons he gets better fuel economy from Shell deisel than the other brands.
Has anyone found that different brands perform differently??

Alby...

Its possible,,, most likely due to the dif between winter and summer mix... (more sulpher in Summer I think)

Would be minimal though I'd imagine as Deisel is not really potent enough to have a dramatic effect I would have thought. Not sure..

I try and fill up shell diesel too. Mainly because theres one next to work, and I try and fill from bowsers where theres a pretty quick turnover of fuel....I mean like heaps and heaps of trucks fill up there so its not sitting around with shit floating around in it and water.

works for me, Oh, by the way, I average around 10.8 - 11.0 per 100km

thats with all the fruit. still better than my 03 V6 hilux I used to own, the best I could get was 12.8 with half the fruit on it.

Has anyone tried / noticed a difference with the new BP ultra diesel?

My old company car was a 2004 ford manual ute which I averaged around 10 - 10.5, the brand new (2500km old) d4d is doing around 9.0 for the same work. I was expecting better.

Still running in?

Hey BJ343
Your fuel figures are so low cause you drive like a grandpa. Remember you are the one in left lane that everyone overtakes. I would be surprised if your lux has ever been over 60km/h. HAHAHA

(Its my big brother. I am allowed to bag him out)

I have a '98 Hilux with the 2.7 petrol. I dont think I will be getting the fantastic figures you guys with the newer models are getting. Thinking I will be getting 550km out of a tank.

Has anyone compared the computer readout to what the pump and gps says you are using?

Goldminer

My figures are based on the gps and pump. The trip comp is slightly out due to the speedo being out of whack.... close but not exact... in my case it is slightly understated.

Hi all,
Just got back from a trip with the campertrailer from Gold Coast to Dubbo, Sheperton (Vic), Pinaroo (SA), Broken Hill, Cameron Corner (Via the Fence Road), Bourke, Gundy and home.

The Trailer is Just under a 1t with water and everything. Had Two fridges in the back of the lux with tool box, recovery gear, Beer and more beer.

Averaged13.1l/100km By speedo and actual fuel put in the tank.

12.4l/100km buy the trip computer.

This was a 5500km trip with 1150km of hard dirt driving. Some of which was 4x4 in sand and mud. A couple water crossings and so on.

Regards,

That sounds like a fair trip mate!!

How did the passengers cope with that size of a trip?

Really want head out that Camerons' Corner way someday.

Broke,
No issue's with the passengers, they were great. Only issue was the 48 gates on the fence road from B/hill to the corner.
SWMBO was not happy getting out of the A/C in to 50 degree heat and wind and dust to open the gate and let me drive thru, then close it again.

Only did about 5 hours drive per day on average.

Great country we have to see out there. It is a must do.

Now done 5000km in the D4D. Last tank was 801 km and took 64 liters to fill to the brim. the cannon calc says that is around 8/100km.

Bloody good!!!!

I went to the great ocean road last year with a similar load as you and found on the way home we travel inland travelling faster speeds and my fuel consumption went out the window like yours.
