33's or 35's on a '03 Hilux and how?

Postby toddnmimi on Sun, 01 May 2011 9:08 +0000

Please forgive me if this has been done to death but this is my first time putting up one of these posts...

I am looking to put either 33" or 35" tires on my 2003 Dual Cab SR5, does anyone have any recommendations?

Also, do i need a body lift as well as a suspension lift and if so what size?

You could do a 2" suspension & 2" body lift to run 33's or u could get a 4" snake racing lift kit but is illegal in qld, not sure what state ur in. Or u can go 4" snake kit & 2" body for 35's but that is to high IMO

Thanks I will look into the 2" suspension and 2" body first and make the decision. Thanks again

you'll get away with a 2" lift, trim the inner guards and fit 33/10.5x15's to the factory SR5 wheels and a good alignment.

If you dont mind the narrower 33" tyre.

You'll benefit from the 32.8" diamter's clearance it provides.

and you'll keep the centre of gravity reasonably low.

If you want the width of the tyre aswell, then yes, you'll need to consider a bodylift as mentioned previously.....do some measurements, if you can get away with 1" over a 2" then do it.

extended ball joint spacers, thou illegal would allow you a slight bit more down travel back if you back off the torsion bars after fitting them, also cutting the bump stops in half or fitting slim ones will aid in slightly more down travel thou illegal aswell.....
