Max tyre size on standard rims

What is the maximum tyre size it is safe etc to run on the standard 6" rims? I ask because mine comes with two sets of rims...

Mate, I got 235/85's on mine, seem to go good

There was a tiny bit of scrubbing on brand new muddies but only at full lock, after about 5k km's it was gone.

The standard SR 16" rims will fitt a 235/85x16 or 32" tyre

I might as well chime in with the same question...

My Lux came from the factory with 265/65R17's. What should I be looking for?

Think some of members have run a 265/70x17 (32) on the standard suspension

255/85x16's are allowed to be fitted on 6" wide rims....thou with the very positive offset I suspect there'd be some scrubbing on swaybar and chassis on full lock.

Max I think you can only get the 235 on the 6" rim.. everywhere I read said a 6.5-7" wide rim as minimum for the 255/85 ??

Also, I am still rolling stock suspension and can confirm the 235/85's are fine. They also sit just inside the guards on the SR.

I run 225/75 R16 ATs. I know it's not the biggest as above but it's bigger than standard. On a side note i was in at Tyrepower researching my next set of tyres and they told me 225 was the widest legal fit on my standard SR rims.

Do Cruiser rims fit the Hilux?

Cruiser rims fit fine on the back, if it has drums. But the inner lip rubs on the brake calliper on the front.

2007lux.. you are right, the 225's are the biggest 'legal' size.. you don't see too many 4x4's with 'legal' rubber these days
