Buying 2002 Hilux

Postby mikmalawi on Sat, 06 Feb 2010 10:49 +0000

Hi.

Living in Malawi (Africa) and buying a Hilux pickup for our small farm and getting around. Saw a good one aand trying to find a review of it - especially regarding the fuel efficiency of the engine.

It's a 2002 3.0 diesel EFI single cab Hilux pickup...

..anyone got any ideas about this engine?

thanks, Mike

I've got a mate that has a 2002 diesel and he's on around 15-16lt per 100km.
Only slightly larger tyres, factory alloy bar and heavy steel tray with 2 big tool boxes.

good engine, reliable, will run forever.....slow as hell and dont even think about towing with it

get the turbo diesel version, the 1KZ, dont bother with the 5Le unless you plan on turbo charging it.....

I had a 98 hilux with a 5L and it struggled towing a 6x4 trailer full of sand.....
