BADGA's Daily/Tour (with racks)

After looking around deciding which dual cab to get i finally decide on the hilux.
Picked up this 05 sr only a week ago for a good price with only 85000kms.
Such a nice car to drive around, plenty of poke and runs on an oily rag.
My plan for it is only a workcar/long distant trip ute, as i have a shorty patrol which has all the good bits on for serious off roading. However took it to the beach the other weekend and it ripped up pretty hard, quite surprized how well it went!!

Image

it came with a lift kit (yet to identify)
tow bar
bunny bar
side steps
245/75/16 goodyear wranglers a/t on mags

So far i have installed:
sr5 sports bar
Dashmat
off road floor mats
seat covers
And in the process of fitting a tonneau cover.

Finally got around to doing the fold down back seat mod tonight, only took like 30mins! hurray for extra room!

Got a few things on the list to do on the gurl before April, as im planning a trip to Broome via Kalbarri, Exmouth and Karratha. Spending a few days in each.

So i think i will need the following to have a happy trouble free time.

-Dual Batteries with aux outputs behind seat and in tub.
-Cruise control, need some comfort doing 4000+km's
-Snorkel, nice cold air
-Spotties, will need to brace the bar as its rather flimsy
-some slim line roof racks, to put a rod on there
-Dark tint, to hide from the sun
-front coil spacer, to make the front less saggy then the rear.

Also i notice on the rear spring both front bushes are flogged out so will be replacing them soon.

So if you know any deals on the above items it would be great :)

Cheers

Bit of an update,

I finished the dual battery setup this weekend.
Ended up going the olds skewl way, which i think its best. By using a 4 way switch (cole hersee battery switch) As this way i can manually control which battery is been charged/used or off if i need to isolate.

I also added a auxiliary dual cig outlet with constant power so i can run the engel over night on the 2nd battery which is a starter/deep cycle.

Made my own battery tray out of ally and painted it black with rubber on the insides to stop rub through.

Also featuring 5% black tint on all windows and a strip across the windscreen, makes it such a cool car to drive in on a hot summer days after a hard day at work :D

more to come ;)

can ya bolt the 37's to the front?

Even if you need the jack underneath to lift it up...just to see what it'd look like.....put one on the rear and one on the front (with the jack lifting ther vehicle) and snap a pic...it'd look tuff az!

rear shocks leaking :O

Postby badga on Tue, 08 Mar 2011 7:07 +0000

haha yer doubt it would even fit :S, but next time ill try ;)

Well while i was under the car on the weekend i noticed the rear drivers side shock had oil all over it, so i wiped it down and now its still got oil dripping from it. So to fix my problem i need new shocks right? At this time i cant really afford a whole lift kit, so i only wanna buy rear shocks atm. Only problem is that when i brought the car, the guy said it had a lift kit in it. looking at the suspension components it looks aftermarket. However everything under the car is painted in chassis back grrr.... so how can i identify the springs on the rear? is there a measure ment for a stock 4x4 hilux i can compare mine to? as i wanna get some decent shocks that will be able to handle what the future holds for this car.

Thx guys

Badga
regarding rear dampers
take one off and measure compressed and extended length and fittings on either end
Give Brendan from Ultimate (forum sponsor) a call or your preferred suspension outlet there will be plenty of choice out there
Koni, bilstein etc
