McSumWay's New rig

Postby McSumWay on Sun, 01 Nov 2009 4:25 +0000

Well I've loved my old girl but the time has come to send her to a new home. With much sadness she was delivered to her new home this weekend. I will see her again as the new owner is my Brother In Law.

Welcome ACTILUX

Image

And here is the new Rig in the Nude

Image

But have already started the fitout process. Just a few of the many parts that will hit the rig over the next few weeks

Image

And finally trying the regear on the new model.

Image

Gets new suspension fitted on Tuesday then off to ARB Wednesday for the Bullbar, Winch, snorkel, Long Range tank and most importantly the lockers with those new gears.

More to come

Warren

Congrats on the newborn Warren, I have been meaning to ask when you were getting her. looking forward to watching your build

Will you have her prepped enough for the High Country weekend?
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

Will have enough to enjoy the drive. The lift, lockers and front bar and winch but the canopy will get fitted the week after as Daniel is away for three week.

Hopefully the car pc will be in as well for navigation but that depends on work commitments as we areflat out at the moment.

Was very sad letting the old girl go but we must move on and I can fix a few of the things that weren't quite right.

What gear set did you get mate... and where from?

Also, did you get it with the canopy and ARB rear bar and remove all that for the tray?

Gone for the 3.9 gears to return it to std gearing when I fit the 32 MTZ's from the old rig. Just looking to take away the extra driveline strain of the larger rubber.

Gears are Genuine Toyota as no-one makes the fronts as an aftermarket unless you start going up to 4.3 and above and with long distance touring in mind that would be too much. Even then Toyota Australia had never sold any and had removed them from being sold - delisted. My dealer mate put in to head office and they were ordered in from Japan. Don't ask the price I can't say what I paid but they list for over 1G!

Clearly if they have never sold any they must be pretty strong!!

Quinny The first pic is of my old girl and its new owner.

The new rig came as a cab chassis and I fitted the tray in preperation for a full alloy gullwing canopy body that will have the full touring setup inside. That is being built right now but wont be ready for two to three weeks.

Good to get the dirty workboots on. Couldn't stand looking at the skinny stockers. At least the guards look full now.

Goes in tomorrow to get the 50mm lift and Billies to get the height right.

Gday all,

My first day as a hilux owner could have gone better, rego inspection was nearly done - just the brake test to go. FAIL!!! :x Thanks Waz........ I asked the bloke if the rears were a bit loose, his response - "No, you have NO rear brakes"

All good, the blokes at ACT brakes made a few adjustments and i'll be back in on Thursday to hopefully exchange rego.

i'll try and tag along with Warren on a few trips and look forward to having a beer with you all

Hey Warren,

Great bunch of accessories you have to start with on this new build... the new diff gears in particular.
Quality.

I'm due for a new truck soon, I think I'll look at getting those as well.
You must have had mixed emotions letting the old girl go... ?

Best of luck with this new truck, I'm sure you've learnt a lot from your last truck and will end up with one of the most capable touring trucks around when this one is completed.

Welcome to Actilux... plenty of good blokes on here with loads of knowledge and experience.
Fancy your Hilux failing the brake test...
We all think Hilux's have the best brakes ever invented!!

Cheers
Matt
