mmaaxx,

Bloody nice mate!

BTW, one quick question.

Does your ARB bar mounting creak if you push it by the sides?

Thanks
Cheers

After a hard day at work today, with the heat and humidity, me and a coupla boys had a couple of 'cold ones' on the front nature strip of work. Whilst downing the 'cold ones' we thought the rocks they had there would make for some nice flex shots, and so I did.

Here is the result, I reckon she flexes pretty good.

who's Mr Duges????

anyway, heres a short vid (finally) of our trip 2 weekends back to Mt. Cole.

That hill was very rutted alternately with a big rock ledge ha;f way up that stopped everyone atleast once. The video starts off with me taking off halfway up from just before this rock ledge.

Im glad to say that my Hilux and the other new hilux there (pictured earlier on) were the only truck that made that hill that day without a winch or lockers of any sort.

Thou that hill did make me want to buy lockers now pretty quickly. Damn it took abit of effort. Thats where I destroyed me factory sidesteps......8-)

hey ya'all,

just thought id bring this back up top with a pic or two of my trip to the high country last weekend. was pretty good, hopefully me mate emails me through some more pics and some video of it for me to post up here, anyway, heres some "poser" pics, with me rollbar for once, hopefully some action ones to come-

am waiting on the 2nd version TDC powerbox to arrive ay day now to install and test out aswell as waiting to get the front spacers installed.

at the moment am working on a making a mounting bracket for a rear bar at the back of the tub, as I have the front portion of an SR5 sportsbar but without the omounting bracket so am trying to make one up that'll be strong enough to lean against and not break. Planning on getting a alluminium rack on top of the top, sitting on the bars for family camping trips away in the future.

Ok, Today I fitted the rear bar with stronger custom made brackets so if need be when hunting I or who ever is shooting can lean on them that little bit more if necessary.

Now I'll chase up some sort of alloy rack to sit atop the tub on top of the bars, and get some rear facing small spotties in each upper corner of the rear bar facing back to light up the night sky when out in the dark.

mmaaxx, you truck is looking good mate. It's starting to get high in the front. Are you worried about the CV angle? Especially with the extra strut spacer.

thanks mate. the strut spacer aint in yet, she was 3 inch high at the front before the ARB bar got fitted and Im assuming its dropped bout a good half inch, so with the strut spacer she'll be around 3.5inch high at the front (extra inch)

yeah, the angle will be higher than most but the Yanks in the States arent having too many problems with their Taco's sitting at 3 to 3.5 inch yet, so should be right. If it breaks, well, thats life I guess and partly my fault, and will look at making it better when I replace it with high angle CV boots.

Yeah good point. I've noticed the aftermarket lifts on the Tacoma's are really high. I'll be interested in the high angle CV boots when you get them. Are these the guys from Melbourne?

wade, yeah they're the blokes from melbourne, didnt get a chance to call today, and bms, when I get round to it, I'll give it a try, not sure how much travel I got, it looks like alot to me, and she soaks up the bumps offroad beautifully.

2 weeks back in the high country near O'tooles crossing, theres a track called the staircase, thats very steep and rocky. my hilux went up nice and slowly no problems, actually surpised me to tell you the truth how easily she crawled up it.

My mate in his 84 hikux with 4 to 5 inch lift and 285's was bunny hopping all the way up and ended up breaking 3 teeth off his crown wheel.

so travel wise, the new hilux's are awesome.8-)

Cool, i've heard of the staircase. Sounds awesome. I can't wait to get to high country and try out my lux at the staircase. Let us know when you install your strut spacers. By the way, are you buying the struts from US?

mah, the bloke who did me suspension is getting em made up from someone he knows, he has already made em once before for his business partners SR5 (4 inch strut lift plus 1 inch spacer lift, total 5inch lift) and the blokes making em for him is giving him the run around it looks like it.

will let you know how I go and will post pics. I emailed him before and will chase him up tomorrow via phone.

Hi mmaaxx, when you installed the new rear lift blocks, did the handbrake cable get in the way at all?
My handbrake cables are hard up against the side of the rear springs. Did this cause you any problems?

Cheers

Wade, No, I didnt have any problem with this. Im sure you could bend slightly the bracket the holds the brake line in the direction you may want. Might have a look at mine tomorrow, but no, didnt have a problem from memory.

I did have to replace the Load Proportioning Valve Brake Line with an extended Snake Racing braided unit as the lift was too excessive for the standard one and under flex was yanking hard at the fitting that meets the line.

hope this helps
