ATTENTION: Vehicle profiles Public or Private? Have your say

Howdy people,

Two people have raised the question as to why the vehicle profiles are now restricted to members only.

This is something I didn't give much thought into and it was automatically restricted with the new setup, but with some site changes this can change so they are publically viewable again.
The thing is, it's a great point of the site that allows people to check out other peoples cars, what they've done, pics, etc. This opens up the importunately for people to sign up as members on the site as they see the benefits of what the site could possible bring to them.

What is your thoughts? Use the poll and give us some feedback below, I would really appreciate it.

I took the "Who cares?" option.

If the only difference between public and private is a user registration, it doesn't take much to see them anyway. Just use some some common sense when you're updating your profile - if you don't want it seen, don't add it.

Hi All, I say Private to the General / Guest User but if you log on i.e. you create an account, then public.

The public profiles attracted me to the site. Having seen what others have done, I wish I found it easrlier. It actually encouraged me to join. Also Wades forum trip in 4x4 monthly was a big drawcard, I found the site through this article. I actually dont think the forum should be viewed by the public though like the previous forum.

I agree with Mark(Skog07), public profiles will encouage people to join the forum. But keep the forum itself for members only.

I am ona few forums and find that if the forum is completely public it is open to abuse. I think that pretty much 100% of the members of this site are decent people (even if menataly unstable) and respect others rights to their opinions.

If someone can see our trucks and ae serious about adding comments or asking questions they will then join the forum.

I agree with Skog07 and Latelylux.

You only have to read some of the other forums and you quickly pick up that there is a much better 'vibe' going on here than what the others experience, from my experience members here have a genuine respect for each other and always willing to share and help each other out. ( was reading a thread on another 4x4 forum recently and the banter deteriorated to death threads and the police were going to be called)
Whatever decision is made in this regard (public V private) I think that preserving the current status needs to be the main consideration

OK fellas.. I have enabled the intro page to have public access to the vehicle profiles.. but you only get a handful of them and it says to login to the forum to see more, I think that's a good incentive to sign up and see more about the site don't ya think Thank you all for your valuable input.

I think it's working though.. just looking at the end of the member list, we're still on average signing up 9-10 members per day, every day. Crazy!
