Turbo being replaced under warranty

Postby Dave on Mon, 17 Nov 2008 5:50 +0000

Well the turbo seals have given up the ghost, there is oil everywhere near the pipe that runs off the intake to the turbo.

This has been only getting worse over the last 10,000kms

Toyota inspected it today to tell me it will be replaced under warranty, $3500 for a new turbo sounds pricey, only have 8,000kms to go until the warranty runs out too!

Have any of the guys who work on these in the mines seen many other turbo's go? Hopefully this is one of a very few to report this issue.

Glad to hear it was under warranty... :D

Nah, guys it was replaced under warranty.. they claimed the turbo assembly was $3500 incl fitting, craziness - I wouldn't have paid that much.

spewing lindlakebusa, speak to MonsterHilux for an aftermarket turbo he'll hook you up with a goodie.

Lindlakebusa,
would you like a turbo upgrade, you need a powerful piggyback system to run it and a larger intercooler. for gains of 50+hp and about 150nm of torque. so your 163hp will be around 210-220hp. and about 480-520nm of torque.

if you want more power than that i have many options. just tell me what you want.

Hmm bugger that sucks mate, mines got another 1,000kms then it's out of warranty and now my rear axle has been bent somehow.. it's going back in next week to be fixed, the axle seal has been leaking for many months and they replaced the bearings and seal initially 12 months ago when it started, then it happened again 6 months later and now its leaking heaps again.
And all of a sudden I have lost allot of power for no reason, hopefully get that inspected next week also.. the dramas I've had is driving me crazy.. might be looking at a V6 auto next...
