We have not heard from any member here who has this lift kit fitted to his/her Hilux.

Cheers

Dust, check my profile for details. The kit was 1850 for everyhthing and add 290 for coils. The front end strut is off a FJ cruiser from the states. Skyjacker shocks are just rebadged Rancho 5000's which will swap for fox racing or bilsteins in a few months to cope with corrigations. Any more questions just ask.

Hey Green,

The mod looks pretty good. The CV joint angle looks pretty steep. No problems I hope?

Steep now, should have seen it when I drove out the shop without the winch on the front. It was 105mm of lift. The thing was maxed out with not a mm of droop. I put in the winch 40kg, dual battery, 15kg and waited a few days. Now its settled to about 85mm last check. Suprisingly, the ride and handling are perfect and Ive taken it on some pretty average tracks and the ride is an ou-of sight improvement from stock. Only drama is the boots which will be sorted out soon, and getting the steering straight. Will have to wait for newly designed caster bushes for that. Overall but, the shop did a great job for the way it drives now. Unfortunantly, the new tyres and lift are costing me more than a 100km less a tank now. Economy very average :(

they'd be 31" @ 265/70/16 but i think he has the 17 inch rim so rather works out the same as having a 32 inch tyre on a 16 inch rim

You're both right in a way. With the metric measurements, its easier to go in mm in rolling diameter and compare to the same in inches. Ironically I had to fight with the guys at one shop who wouldn't sell that size to me. With standard SR5 tires 255/60/15's or whatever the 265/70/17s are more than 95mm longer. The legal limit in qld is 15mm longer. Crazy hey! I didn't want the 265 in 16's cause I thought the 17's would be bigger, yet ironically the 16's have 813mm's whilst the 17's have 810. But the sidewall is taller and stronger in the 17's with two more ply's. According to their charts a 32 has 807mm. I choose 17's not just for looks but the steering and braking is sharper than on 16's.

i have the 16 inch with 265/75 series.

what size wouldnt they sell you mate? the 75 series?
My local kinda huffed and puffed about them being too big, the 265/75/16 that is, and they are correct they are...if you are both at full lock AND full compression otherwise they are perfectly fine so i told em make it happen be it on my own head. Havent been offroad as yet to test them thoroughly but i dont anticipate probs

They would only sell 255's and ARB recommended the same. Yet they are obliged to sell legal gear I guess. I had to go to fourby's in Brisbane and they don't ask a lot of questions :) There is room for 33's but I can't justify the $$$ to make the body mods to make them fit.

I have yet to have the tires rub and had them at full lock so couldn't be happier.

Over here the tyre shops couldn't care less as there are no such laws or regulations.

They'll even sell you the 36" Centipede Mud Terrain on our Hilux if you want it!8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
