anyone with 20" wheels and 45 series tyres what pressures are you running? The tyre dealer suggested 40 psi but that seems way to much.

I think it's about there.

You are running very low profile tyres at 45 series. Normal 4x4 tyres are 70, 75 or 80 series profiles.

Coupled with the fact that these tyres a P (Passenger) classification and not LT (Light truck) and the weight of the Hilux, you will need those tyre pressures.

Many of us run mid 30's at the front with LT tyres, so with those bling bling tyres you would need to run at 40's.

You also need to protect the wonderful rims you have due to the low profile sidewalls by inflating the tyres much harder.

Tonym,

Why do you want to get rid of the 20" wheels? If you are not using it in off-road situations or touring, there's nothing wrong with them. The hard tyre pressures are a compromise but you'll like the cornering as the sidewalls don't flex as they are ultra low profile.

If you use the Hilux for off-road or carry stuff at the back or go touring, then 15" or 16" wheels might be a safer and sensible option.

My humble 2 cents.

I was going to replace the 20" with Dick Cepek DC1 15" rims and Cooper ATR in 265/70/15. they should look pretty good and give a lot better ride.

Roger that Tonym.

70 series tyres versus 45 series makes one heck of a difference in ride!
