ABS Fuse?

Howdy all

Does anyone know how to disable the ABS brakes on the Hilux?

Looked at the fuse box but I was quickly scared off when I saw the weird looking fuse system it's got, where the ABS fuse resides?

Thanks!

Guys, I don't know about the ABS Fuse,Never seen that before... but as for the other fuses, in a pinch the standard mini fuses will fit our fuse holders... I am going to buy some proper ones from Toyota, but I had to replace the Cig lighter fuse on the weekend... I only had the tiny fuses and the standard large (OLD LUX) fuses..the small ones fit, but stick out a little...So if your stuck for a fuse just get them at any servo and they will see you through... I've used the off-the-shelf mini fuses, they go in ok. On the subject of fuses, I can't get the cover off the under bonnet fuse box because the second battery is hard up against it. Anyone else with this problem?

My second battery is in an ARB Bracket... no problem there....But the cover is still a bit hard to remove due to the earth cable.... What Battery bracket are you using??? Cheers TOMUCH

If you can disable the ABS be removing the fuse, it means you can install a switch to turn the ABS ON and OFF as you wish.... Just food for thought as I know a couple of people might be interested in doing that.

Rich, have you seen the ABS Fuse... good luck removing that... I have never seen a setup like that...to the extent..I intend on buying one of each side and taking them with me on my out back trips... blow that thing and you could be in a world of hurt.... Cheers TOMUCH

Na, I havn't seen it TOMUCH, but disconnect the power to it and re-connect it, via a switch may turn on and off the ABS (same effect as removing the fuse). You wouldn't have to remove the fuse as long as you can get to the wire on one side of it.

I don't have an interest in disconnecting the ABS as I havn't had a bad experience yet, but maybe there are others that want to...

Cheers mate.

Ok, there are more than one item connected to this weird fuse system... have a look under the bonnet at it... you will see straight away what I mean.... True it could probably be done ...but I think it would be a pretty big job... hell changing that fuse looks like a pretty big job...Cheers TOMUCH

ABS on dirt roads are too crash hot. Correct me if I am wrong anyone but my understanding is that the ABS action allows the vehicle to kind of float on the dirt rather than dig in and stop.

In regards to changing the fuse for the cig lighter has anyone tried cutting the standard fuses down so they don't stick out? Could't hurt could it?

Hey Smithy.... would seem like a lot of effort for no real gain...the fuses work fine.....just stick out a bit...when you compare them you will notice the Toyota ones are slightly different in the way they go in .... but as you said... It can't hurt if you want to go that far....Cheers TOMUCH
