upper control arms

anybody out there running those tufflux ucla's?
$880 delivered.my camber and castor angles are shocking.do these things really fix those problems associated with lifting a lux 2 or more inches?e.g pulling to the left constantly.
running 31's at the moment but would really love to get the issues sorted before stepping up to a 32.

What problems? mine is lifted approx 70mm over standard and doesnt pull and steers perfectly, tyres are at 40k and still have plenty of tread. I am running 265/70/16

I think you need to find someone who knows how to do proper wheel alignments on these trucks....that'll solve your problems.

Just had another wheel alignment on my lux. Perfect as usual, but I get it done every 10000kms or so. While I was there I thought I would get my tyres stripped to get the rims powercoated. I run the same tyres and rims on my trailer so I just whacked them on the ute for a couple of days. Well bugger me. My ute pulled to the left. Not really noticeable at low speeds but on the highway, different story. Just had a wheel alignment so I was sure they stuffed it up. Fast forward a couple of days got my old rims and tyres back and what do you know....no pulling. Drove straight as an arrow. My mate at the tyre centre couldn't explain it. So I swapped the just the fronts over. Pulled left. Changed out for the other two Maxxis. Pulled left. Changed sides. Pulled left. Anyway cut a long story short, we narrowed it down to the tyres and we still don't know why. :?: Maybe someone else could shed some light on this

The bloke i take it to in ballina is supposed to be the best in the area.Have taken it to a tyre shop in byron, and told them of the problems i was having.Their response was if he can't get it no one can.sooooo........
What do i do get a day off work drive to brisbane and get ryano at fourby's to look at it.Or is there someone on the goldcoast that knows what there doing? If i can save the $880 on ucla's and put it towards wheels for 32'S that would be great!!!!!
On another note i think i saw lanceairs hilux parked at the ballina carwash(sure i read on here he owns it ?)wanted to stop and ask if he sold that chip it CHIP,but was running late for work.
So i guess the big question is who knows someone who can do a decent wheel allighnment in northern nsw or se qld.

SHE CAN TAKE THE HOUSE,SHE CAN TAKE THE KIDS BUT SHE AIN'T TAKEN THE F@#KIN HILUX!!!

Adjustable upper control Arms

Postby whatsjackdunn on Wed, 14 Jun 2017 7:19 +0000

Hey I couldnt find anything directly linking to this so here it goes.

I got a 2012 Hilux and am looking at upgrading the suspension as the person I bought it off just had spacers in there. I was looking at Bilsteins but then when I talked to the guy at autopartsco, he said that I would need to get adjustable upper control arms as well which are $800. So if I include that then I can't afford Bilstein shocks.

So question is, do I need the new control arms, if so, can anyone recommend the best value for money in full kit suspension.

Cheers

You'll need them if your going 2.5" or higher from what I remember when I went through this with mine.

I was at 3" and drove around without UCA's for awhile, but your camber and castor will be out resulting in quicker front tyre wear and heavier steering. I've got the SPC brand ones. If your going to get them make sure they are the ball joint type and not the uni ball type. Uni- ball wear quicker and need to be lubed up frequently. Ball joint are sealed with zero maintenance.

Once I got the UCA's my hilux instantly felt much better and easier to drive.
