Well what I've been dreading has finally happend
check engine light came on a few days ago and Lux going ok just a little rough at idle it was a couple of days before I could get access to the trusty snap on scan tool by that time the light went out so checked the ecu and yep faulty injector code stored ok no biggy I thought maybe a glitch or hiccup in the system but back of my mind dirty fuel alarms ringing.A few days later back on
ok now it is time to start chasing the problem lucky for me a mate was going to buy a snap on Lab Scope later this year so we just pushed it forward a bit(We are now officially on Snap-On's christmas card list
) Over the last 2 days we've been tracking down the faulty injector/s and have come up with 2 and 3 are in pretty bad condition with 4 in specs but just and 1 perfect so planning on replacing 2&3 "keep an eye on what 4 is doing via the lab scope so we can build up a data base on whats good ok and not.
Just a couple of questions for you guys out there
1 What's involved in getting the injectors out,we have done a few non common rail ones in the past and heaps of petrol ones but would like to know of anything specific relating to the Hilux D4D.Anything that we need to take extra notice of etc. Am having some trouble getting hold of the factory manual for it have a couple of leads that as yet haven't borne fruit but am hopeful.
2 Where is the best place to get injectors rather than factory (Quoted $975 ea) as the Lux is out of warranty it's all coming out of my own pocket so anythig saved can go back into mods.
