My 2017 hilux has done 98k and will be having its 3rd DPF fitted in a couple of weeks. I had it tested a week back and it failed after a forced burn, the CPU was also recalibrated.jmag wrote:jmag wrote:Just wanted to know of any more news or issues with the dreaded DPF. My 2017 Hilux 4wd dual cab auto has just had 3 smoking events within the last 1500K's starting at about 37000K's with none previous to that. It only lasts for a minute before it clears out but very embarrassing. Up until the 37000K mark I was doing a lot of highway driving but since then lots of short trips around town although i have been deliberately taking it out on to 80-100K roads to try and get the burn going. I drive in eco mode most of the time and don't carry much weight and get 8.6L/100k which is accurate. I did notice on the last smoking event a different noise coming from the engine bay and the fuel consumption read out shot up. I assume it was the regeneration thing happening but are the clouds of smoke normal or acceptable? Will be having it's 40000K service soon and will be letting them know that i am well aware of the DPF issues with these engines. Will post back the results then.
Had the 40000Km service today this is what was written on the service report. "Smokey Exhaust - Cleared by clearing calibration file - Reflash and forced DPF burn". They said that this new flash is 3 weeks old. Fingers crossed.
