285 St maxx's packeteer? I was thinkn of puttn those or the at3 in the 275 to avoid any rubbing.

I'd avoid the 275, would be bugger to find one in remote areas, 265 and 285 70 17 are both very common these days. I'm sticking with the 265's but I believe (and I'm sure packteer will tell you) your wheels are the ideal offset for 285's.

imo, to eliminate rubbing you need aftermarket UCA's, 3 inch lift, and some trimming. YMMV

Ive been saying this for years....

FJ wheels being a +15 offset are ideal for a couple reasons:

1) +15 offset is the largest offset increase you can go legally

Just checking if +15 is legal from a +30 SR5 wheel.

Looking on the RTA website on document VSI9 its not.

25mm is the maximum total you can increase the wheel track – that equals 12.5mm per-side?

My understanding was it was 30mm track increase unless something has changed in recent times. 15mm per side quates to this.

I’m really hoping I’m wrong on this one as the FJ wheels look great!

The maximum you can widen the wheel track in all states is 26mm.

The standard SR5 wheel is 15” x 7” with an offset of +30

The FJ Cruiser is 17” x 7.5” with +15 offset.

You also need to add the “Extra” width of the cruiser wheel (7.50” Vs 7”) which pushes the wheel further out again by 6.35mm

That makes a total of 21.35mm per side – increasing the wheel track by 42.70mm – the max is 26mm

Theres a few sets on Gumtree in West oz, but over $1500 generally with tyres.

Don't forget track width from a legal & manufacturing point of view is measured inside to inside tyre, so even though your offset is bigger you may still be legal as the new tyre is wider, ie a GX 150 series prado has a wider track than a GXL going by the factory spec sheet.

I have read the RTA document again - the “Wheel Track” is the width from centre of both wheels.

Not the distance from outside to outside or inside to inside.

Also I have measured from the Hub mating surface of both SR5 Wheels and FJ wheels.

SR5 R15 x 7
74mm from Hub mating surface to outside rim of wheel – called the “poke”
133mm from Hub mating surface to inside rim of wheel – called the “insert”
207mm from outside of rim to rim of wheel – making a “Wheel” centre of 103.5mm

FJ Cruiser R17 x 7.5
94mm from Hub mating surface to outside rim of wheel – called the “poke”
124mm from Hub mating surface to inside rim of wheel – called the “insert”
218mm from outside of rim to rim of wheel – making a “Wheel” centre of 109mm

If you calculate these figures – or mark it down on paper you end up increasing your offset 15mm x2

So your true total “Wheel Track” has increased by 30mm which - you can only go 25mm.

Can anyone confirm this?

do you need the wheel nuts for these or would normal SR ones fit?

yes you would. wheel nuts are different between alloy and steel (FJ rims are alloy, SR is steel)

well I just picked me up a set of 5 for $800 bucks with no tires on them.

now just got to give them a clean and get some rubber on them when I get my lux lol

they also look like the standard tyres
just a couple of questions
1) have u a lift in it
2) do they rub on full lock with the standard tyres

just to correct my previous post. after a lot of work by Ultimate Suspension to get the best setup, I'm now running a 2.5" lift with aftermarket UCA's. No trimming needed, though I have removed the mud guard.

with standard tyres (265/65/17) there would be no rubbing as there is miles of room
