Fair enough Dan. I would have preferred to get a new valve/bung but have had very poor service from my local Toyo dealership and just couldn't be bothered to ask them if it can be purchased as a separate item.
I guess one way of testing it would be to take the box out and submerge the lower half of the filter box into water ...
I guess this would put the whole should I, shouldn't I seal it thing to rest for everyone else - Probably needs to be tested with a non-defective valve though which rules us both out
