Hilux - No1 Selling in June 09

Postby Hilux Max on Fri, 03 Jul 2009 6:40 +0000

Guys,

Im pleased to announce that the Hilux.....once again....is the number one selling vehicle in Australia for the month of June......

http://www.carsguide.com.au/site/news-and-reviews/story/toyota_hilux_tops_june_car_sales/
The workhorse and weekend warrior Toyota HiLux ute has become the country's best selling car.

Toyota sold 4700 HiLuxes late month as tradies continue to take advantage of the Federal Government's small business investment allowance.

June's official VFACTS industry figures due out today are tipped to show the HiLux even outsold its nearest competitor, the Holden Commodore, by a margin of just 10 cars.

It is the third time in the past 18 months the tradies' favourite has outsold the Commodore, the most recent being October.

The HiLux result is helping firm Toyota's position as market leader this year.

But the ute and van boom is not just benefiting Toyota.

Other popular utes, the Mitsubishi Triton and Nissan Navara also performed well last month.

Mitsubishi sold about 3000 Tritons and Nissan about 2500 Navaras.

Some dealers are even reporting stock shortages of some models, particularly diesel Navaras.

Mitsubishi dealers nationally only have seven Triton work utes left.

"We're awaiting the new model in September," Mitsubishi Australia spokesperson, Lenore Fletcher said.

So Toyota sold 4,700 Hilux......thats 1,700 ahead of Mitsubishi......even thou they are cheaper, have more inclusions and according to some.....even better looking.

Go figure.....so many tradies wouldnt be splurging their hard earned cash on an over expensive Hilux if there wasnt something to it........

Hilux all the way.......

Mmaaxx . . . . .

That all sounds good and I applaud Toyota for having a great ute.

With all the deals going on with discounts for ABN holders etc the sales should be very high for all cars on the market.

As I turn my cars over every 3 – 4 years this will piss me off heaps cause having the sales so high now will in turn flood the market in a few years time with 2nd hand ute’s and the more 4 sale the lower the price will be to sell

I do know that the hilux does have a good resale value so I will see in the next year or so . . . . :(

At least the Triton owners can take comfort in the fact that they beat the Navara

Interesting about the used car market, talking to a frined who is looking for a low km sedan ATM and he said they aren't there. The 30-40,000 km used car does not exist, they all have about 80,000 km on them due to the financial downturn and the tightening up of vehicle finance. Suncorp told me recently that their current policy is that they will not approve leases to non-customers. From what I have heard elsewhere, it sems that a lot of peolpe can't get the finance for a new car at the end of their lease so are releasing them.

Anyway, utes in general always have very good resale and the Hilux will come out on top of the others as well.

Sorry to say Stu but I can buy a new SR5 today for $38000 on the road with the discounts being offered by dealerships if I supply an ABN number . . . . .

So in due time with high sales numbers now it will flood the 2nd hand market in a few years and having so many out there the price will go down on 2nd hand cars.

give yourselves a pat on the back guys, you've done a great job

in other news mcdonalds sold 5,000 more cheeseburgers than hungry jacks last month, hungry jacks patrons are very dissapointed in the outcome as they know the burgers are better at hungry jacks

Geez, I'm glad I plan on keeping mine for 10 years or more, I paid $44k for a SR Diesel Auto in Feb last year and that was a steal at the time

When the tradies sell them they will be up for 50% capital gains tax. :o

You can only depreciate a car so much. Basically they have been given 4 years depreciation in one year. If you havent earnt any money or you havent paid any tax you still don't get it back :o ;)

another good thing about high volume sales for the new hilux means more and more aftermarket parts and OEM Like spares sooner and more and more at the wreckers.

Its hard pressed to drive down any road in any town and not go past half a dozen new model hilux's.

Some easy things to get for early model hilux's which shared fairly similar construstion for many years, are hard to find for our current models without going to toyota and bending over backwards.

I still remember when one of the guys on here wanted to get a simple Dimmer switch for the instrument cluster which the SR5 had and the SR didnt, and was quoted some incredibly insane price of $70-80 bux.
