That's right folks, the Big Banger of the Toyota Fleet is coming to Australia soon, unfortunately not through Toyota Dealers but whilst googling I found out that Macquarie 4x4 along with Wozard Performance will be importing the Tundra to Australia.

Ok guys, just called them up to get the deal....Basically, the previous shape one has a 4.7 V8 that puts out more than the current V8 Cruiser petrol V8, they have around 20-30,000km's on them, and the previous shape is going to sell around the $85-90,000-

The current shape ones are going to sell around the $110,000+

All are basically SR5 package level.

Bloke said you can get them here for $50,000 and the conversion and complians is $35,000

I was hoping to see if I could get a better deal and Novate Lease one which I could for 50grand, but unfortunately dont have the cash for the conversion lying around.

Another builder I know bought a new 100 series petrol GXL (run-out model) and had it converted to a dual cab with extra axle along with a tipper tray, under tray drawer and alloy toolboxes for an all-up cost of 85K. This compares favourably with the converted second-hand Tundra.

I agree with jep; why toyota don't offer a full size twin cab (with diesel option) here is beyond me. Even a hilux body on a modified 70 series chassis with the V8 diesel and landcruiser running gear would be a great option. It'd be an interesting custom project if money was no object.

I reckon there's a chance the toyota diesel would bolt to the tundra gearbox. I also reckon the tundra may share components with the landcruiser 100/200 series; front ends, steering etc., making a conversion easier than say a chev. If only!

You guys in Australia can have all the Tundras :( they arent very good , the new ones anyway . the first generation Tundras were far better . the guy where I work traded his new Tundra (extra cab 4x4 5.7 liter short bed) off for a used Ford F250 crew cab 4x4 , he said the Tundra was a dudd , if his Tundra could not handle a little hunting trip in Oregon without 4x4 problems they arent going to handle life in Australia very good .

You guys are classic examples of the grass is greener on the other side of the fence!

Silvarardo wants a Hilux which he can't have  and we import something we can't have and spent the price of a new car to be allowed to drive it.

But Jep and Brookster are on the money, I think a 100 series dual cab would be awesome too and was going to agree with them until I remembered the reason I'm not driving a Landcruiser Ute and got a Hilux instead is because of the extra $15-20k it would have cost me.

I actually got dragged off at the lights recently by a V8 Landcruiser Ute which is a rare ocurrence in my Hilux. Not satisifed wiith that, the guy left me for dead when I got round the corner... Anyway at least it was a Toyota! who wheeled me! :D

i would go the ram over all of them then the chev and the ford
i would love a dual cab cruiser but the $$$$$$ involved is silly
35k to convert a ute is bullshit
i heard somewhere that people were getting them done in NZ where it is cheaper and then bringing them over..not sure how true that is

Toyota USA biggest problem is they missed the memo that says you are supposed to make the trucks tougher with each progressive redesign , my 85 and 86 Toyota 4x4 trucks had better frames than the Tacoma or the maybe even the Tundra (new version) I had some mega loads of fire wood in my 85 and 86 Toyota 4x4 trucks (7500 pounds total GVW)that would kill a Tacoma . I had some steel side racks about cab high and it was also a long bed and wet wood .

I blew my engine up in the 85 Toyota 4x4 pickup (#4 rod through the block) driving to get a big gulp of all places , it was one of the first fuel injected four speed auto Toyota 4x4 RCLB pickups in the USA I think , it was a 22RE engine A340h automatic transmission , I think hydro locking it a few times is what really did it in  what was really funny is it still ran after it threw the rod  I drove it up to where I pulled the engine .

Why would you bother. They dont have the same payload as the hilux and will cost over $100k. and only available in petrol, most people here whinge about fuel comsumption now with a V6, what would you think a 5.7V8 would get.

To many $$$ for a petrol. When my lease is up I will probably got for the 100 or 200(if there cheap enough by then) series cruiser and get it chopped.
This mob do them for about 14k which seems reasonable.
