XROX ISSUE.

Postby D4DEVIL on Thu, 26 May 2011 7:47 +0000

Heads up lads, to save you an ass load of time pulling out struts and clambering over suspension bits. If you have an Xrox bar, and have developed a cracking noise in the front end, (sounds like flogged out strut bushes), check the body isn't fouling the rear surface of the Xrox mount! Under flex it will touch and bind up, making it sound cheap as a new patrol. Either adjust mount forwards or, jam rubber in there.

This isn't just an xrox issue...same thing can happen to other bars that are fitted with too small tolenrences.

I know what your talking about as I have this issue on my left hand side, not the right.

It is basically because the Hilux Cabin flex's ALOT on its body mounts espcially when the vehicle is crossed up offroad with more weight over the front than the back.

I just havent got round to adjusting thr mounting forward slightly yet.

Ive got an ARB bar and have had the same noise in recent months. I dont hear it when im driving but when it cools down it gets a bit of a creak. It comes from the front and doesnt sound like suspension settling..As I havent driven off road for a long time...

My ARB bar was put on crooked and when flexing pushes the headlight into the front quarter panel. Headlight is chipped ann cracked and creaks when offroad. I have a loose bolt in the snorkel bracket that rattle over every bump. I have a bumping noise behind the backseat, yes all bolts are tight. I have a squeaky tailgate latch the sounds over every bump. I had a vibrating noise in the undercarriage when in a certain rev range. Found out it was both the rear bolts of my FUG working their way loose. No more vibration now that they are gone. I have a squeak in the dash when offroad.

But I don't hear it anymore since putting the straight thru pipe on my 3" zorst.

...................kids in the back seat??? :? What kids, I can't hear them.
