There has been some discussion on them before but they're less preferred as something like Buds customs available through Monster rides. Here is a bit of a past topic on them viewtopic.php?f=8&t=10195&p=138393&hilit=protection#p138393
I have ARB protection which have a better rep than iron man and Ive bent the >>>> out of them. Buds for me next time as they are much more solid

Make ya own.....I had TJM bashplates and have modded them 3 times since Ive had them, chopping and cutting and adding...they are 6mm underneath now in most places and under the important bits they are 10mm thick....yes, its interesting pulling them off...I need to use a trolley jack for support! :o

Yep I think I might max
After reading all about the other named ones I will go some ironman and mod them myself.
The reason I ask is I'm off for a couple of days for a trip and have been worried about the tracks we are heading to I have 2" lift in the front but thinking
1. Bash plates
2 lift rear.
Funds are low what to do. 1 or 2

My mum never told me that.... I've still got stock bash plates :o

Max, do you think 10mm thick may be a bit excessive? :?

They are only strips under the diff brackets and the dropped portion for the diff.

I welded another 3mm thick plate underneath the orignal TJM bashplate then sealed over all the welds -

The portion covering the diff brackets and diff pumpkin are 10mm thick as per below -

Well in total Ive spent 3 days in Perth so have no idea what the 4wdriving is like although I have seen some photos from up North and its pretty rugged looked like a lot of deep ruts. I had to drive south of Perth to get a couple of Operator tickets off an assessor I think the name of the suburb was Safety Bay, or Shelter bay. Really nice spot it was close to an hour south. Im glad I did the trip because most of what I saw of WA was red dirt and spinifex (Karatha region) I gave a bloke a lift to beach area I think it was Scarborough that looked really nice and expensive as well
In all honesty you will probably get away with it just being sensible, but Im paranoid as my son hit his 4x4 into the ground with no protection split the bottom of the radiator unbeknown to him coolant leaked out and warped the head of his motor. So some 4000 bucks later I still kick myself for not getting a descent bash plate.

if your heading down collie way you may want some extra protection with a two inch lift, in saying that there are chicken tracks everywhere, i have been down there a few times with standard bash plates and they have been "remodeled" a fair bit
cheers.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. Went over to the Victorian High country last weekend. Beat the bajezus out of the stock rock guard. I'm a pretty careful driver but some things just can't be avoided. For anyone thinking of doing any proper 4WD. Get some protection under the car... The stock guard can be bent by hand... Big rocks make mince of it... PS. I'm a tightass but some things are worth spending money on.

I completely bent the front of my ARB bash plate down there as well, taking a big hit in the front trying to keep up with hill billies.
