1kd-ftv falters after 2500 RPM

I will describe the problem to see if it rings any bells:

If my 1kd-ftv is accelerated past 2500 RPM engine falters and check engine light turns on. I have to turn engine off and re-start so problem goes away, but if I accelerate past 2500 RPM again the same thing would happen.

Engine was completely re-built 1 month ago.

Is this electrical or mechanical failure...or combination?

I dont think it would be mechanically if the engine continues working...more likely something electrical.

best to get the stealership to check the diagnotic fault codes being put out.
