Yes you can...the TRD Hilux is a supercharged V6....do a search and there are a couple other threads on the topic.

Condello,

Are you referring to the 3 litre Diseasel or the 4 litre Petrol engine?

Titled edited for clarity and fiorst post fixed.

I dont see why you couldnt do it.....you would have even more torque from lower down the rev range...pretty much for the get go...you wouldnt have any turbo lag or turbo heat associated problems.

Im assuming cost would be the main reason toyota fitted a turbo instead of a supercharger IMO.

That or the turbo they used is less harsh on the drivetrain = less stress.
Could be a combination of the two?

Eaton m90 would be my choice if i were doing it,
custom inlet and extractors, is away you go.

But if your not that handy in fab work idd look at side mount chargers, something like the 'v-1 T trim'

More to point is why do you want a supercharger, you could do a series twin turbo set up and element 99% of lag, this is the most common diesel HP turbo set up
farting is alot like jxxxxxg off. both provide instant gratification, but neither is a long term solution to the actual problem......................

Be interesting to see. Have you seen the 6.5 V8 Chev diesel supercharged?
Gets up over the turbo version.

You can mount the eaton anywhere you would put a vortech ;)

I am not against superchargers as such, I have one on my 1HZ for over 15 years and it great, but have you tried a fuel chip, exhaust upgrade ?

If your only doing it for lag idd run 2 turbos in series
1 small 1 large and it will end up being cheaper to set up.
But if your dead set on blown and don't mine the wine that goes with it try calling capa they do all the vortex and eaton range
For easy of installation idd look at the vortex v-1 T trim it's rated for around 26 psi constant,

You should get in contact with Rod at VMN http://www.vehiclemods.net.au/index.php
and see how good your lux can be with a good chip and exust, it will amaze you the difference.
When mine was still under warranty, I would have to pull up on the side of the road and put the chip back on after it was serviced as it is such a dog without it.

I have a supercharged (Petrol) Prado and love it but probably wouldn't do the same to a Diesel Hilux. The common rail diesels are so much easier to modify and can produce the same amount, If not more power than what the supercharger would. I had to hang my head in Shame when Borngeek from the triton forum flogged my Prado in a friendly drag. He's running a Sprint Booster and ChipIt module with some custom tunes and other goodies. Easily pushing 60% more power than standard and has another topic secret mod on the way. The total cost of his mods would be will under the price of the Supercharger and the performance is incredible to say the least.

If you really want to do it, I would work on the Turbos like Jap suggested or just get a good chip and exhaust combination for noticeable power gains on and off road. We only run a Steinbauer, Exhaust and Sprint Booster on ours and I can't see us ever needing more than what we've got.

I would like to know more about a supercharger or even a twin turbo set up. Twin turbo would prob work out cheaper. Would be interested to see what has been done out there
