Dual snorkels??

Postby RonBacardi8 on Wed, 11 Apr 2012 7:19 +0000

G'day all,

Can someone tell me why some 4WDs have 2 snorkels (one on each side) is it for dual air intake or just extra cooling or ????

Cheers Ronny

A lot do it for Aircon. 1 for intake obviously and the other for fresh air for the Aircon on dusty road and deep water crossings!

Yeah I see what you mean I just googled that too.

For the aircon? But that's only if taking air from the outside, I guess that would make a bit of sense, but then again why not just use the recycled air on dusty roads and heavy traffic.

I had duals on my first car, 1lt Sierra. it was a little weapon. I'm sure it was good for a couple of PSI at 100km/h haha

Iv seen it on a lifted Porsche Cayenne that sorta made sense.. apparently they have twin air intakes so they run duel snorkles instead of haveing a pipe run over the top of the engine to keep air temps the same on both sides.
was a bloody nice porsche though, 3" lift on 33s, duel chrome snorkles, custom front and rear bars and sliders and front and rear winches :(
