Pheeeuuuuwwwwww
I thought I was going to cop it bad for my comment.
MY OPINON ONLY on this matter comes from years of crane use, tow truck, welding, barge work. We always used the equivalent size and the load you can place on that's size of metal is amazing. Regardless of what Toyota says. I'll guarantee that Toyota is just covering their arse. Also using your tow point is not a commercial operation most of the time, so why does it need to be rated. If you were receiving a taxable Income from recoveries then yes you need the rating for insurance purposes. Etc etc.
I've also seen the after market one and you know I agree that a stamp that says 15 t or whatever the number can make you feel better, I'm more worried a bout the bolts that hold these things on. Are they high tensile ? The other thing it's a bit of flat plate bolted to a chassis. Whilst a forward load is no problem, any side load will surely create a peeling effect and all strength will then rely on bolts.
I'll shut up in a sec.
Does anybody know if there is a aftermarket tow point that engulfs the entire chassis having a sandwich effect and multiple bolt holes.
