According to Jason @spyroeast, the ScanGauge II will not fit our Hilux.

He actually ordered 2 units and will now have to return it back.

It just won't communicate with the OBD II.

weird, lots of prado people seem to have this.i would of thought our ECU's are much the same.
i know early diesel prado's it might not have worked on properly due to toyota changing between ODBD II to SCANC in 05 (scanguage supports scanc so should work on those models)
.its not because of the dp chip is it?

did u get a unit to try it?
if it didn't work on the diesel have access to a petrol one to try?

reading a few posts from the guy who sells it in australia, seems to be around late 05 early 06 that toyota's started to work.

perhaps becuase you get teh 2.5 diesel the ECU is not the same =/

jcarter,

I didn't try it out as Jason tried it out himself.

As you said, maybe it's due to the 2.5 ECU which is different from the 3.0 litre that you use in OZ.

We don't get petrol versions Hilux over here. We only have one version, the underpowered 2KD-FTV 2.5 D4D!

cry.....cry.....

Jason,

Can you return it to the Singapore dealer since it won't fit for a refund?

When are we going for a drink mate? I'm waiting for you!

I have a Scanguage 2 - it works perfectly.
07 Hilux Diesel Auto.
The fuel consumption was a bit out to begin with, but it seems to be correcting its reading with time.
All other functions are perfect - I use the speed reading alot as the factory speedo is way out as we all know...

I recommend the Scanguage..

HiruxHijinx,

What is the capacity of your Hilux ?? 4.0 or 3.0 ?? Ive have read forums and it seems most Aussie Toyotas like Prados are compatible to the Scan Gauge II. Well if it works then i have two units for sale !!! Cut my loss if possible !! 8-)

I have the 3.0L Diesel Turbo
it is handy, the most interesting functions I look at are:
- Intake Air Temp
- Engine Water Temp
- Speed
- Litres Per Hour
- Litres per 100km

But it does quite a bit of other stuff too, has trip computer, holds maximums / peaks, all that sort of stuff.

where the ashtray is, fabricated a bracket to screw it there, and ran the cable in behind the dash so it looks all tidy.
sticks out a bit, not ideal, but i couldnt find anywhere else good to put it..

Would it mount nicely if you only had a single din stereo and mounted in the spare slot?

I think it might connect to the OBD connector??

Is there any risk of voiding warranty any any way, by using Scangauge ?

Or should I say has anyone asked Toyota or gone through a service with one connected ?

Also are the units displayed changeable to km and Litres ? The Wooders site has (MPH) after mentions of speed ?
