Hilux 3.0 D4-D auto. 38" tires and 1:4,88 gear does avarage about 12,5L per 100km.

In deep snow with tire pressure mostly around 2-5psi it is around 20-25L

In snow with tire pressure around 5-7psi it seems to be 16L
When the road ends the fun begins
Toyota Hilux DoubleCap 2007 3.0 D-4D Automatic modified for 38" tires. ARB lockers, 1:4,88 gears, rear 4-link coil spring suspension, Aux. fuel tank, 38" MickeyThompson Baja MTz tires and lot more

Hi everyone,
Not sure why but my new sr5 Turbo diesel does
7L to the 100 or 8.9L off road but that is with standard H/T tyres. And no I don't drive like a granny either8-)
A stick ripped off both fuel lines today up on the bloomfield and while i got them on again before we ran out of diesel hope that doesn't change it.8-)
curious has this happened to anyone else?

Nope, been up the Bloomfield a few times and that has never happened thank god!

Using your own calculations is the only way to get accurate figures, the trip computer is just a guide. The table I use probably won't work on this site but here goes....

No accessories when the truck was new, 700Kms for 65 litres. Was around 9.2l/100ks. With all the mods it was getting 650ks for 65 litres. Around 10l/100ks in the city. Driving like a grandpa and no load.
The worst i ever had was 15l/100ks travelling up to Darwin with a big head wind and travelling at upwards of 130kph with a car full of gear.
Dont ask what we got the thing up to.;)

Glad I got the Diesel. With only 2300km on it, over Easter I got 600km out of 60L (10 L/100km) on the highway which is an improvemnet of 2 L/100km in normal city driving.

Hi All,

First Tank full of 70% H'way and 30% town driving in my Standard SR5 DC D4D Manual with Snorkel was 65L for 772.8Km = 11.89Km/L or 8.41L/100km (Caculated figures, not the computer - don't trust it yet).

I'm getting about 15L/100km in my V6 around town with lift, front bar and standard size tyres. Love the V6 power so I don't think I can expect much better till i lighten up on the loud pedal.

First tank ever, mixed bag of driving. ie Melb city, highway and little farm work. Couple of good squirts to see how it opens up.
10.9L/100Km based on fuel in vs Km travel. Trip meter pretty much matched up....if only the speedo was that accurate.

Just did a 566klm trip, computer said average 9.3L/100Km.
Actual was 10.95L/100Km.
Funny thing is the range knew we were getting low but if you believed the average fuel use we had an extra 10L in the tank.
What is halarious is the computer makes the economy look good, never heard of one making it look bad.

General running around includes 70% town driving and 30% highway have been averaging around 10.3L/100km with large canopy on tray running 225x75x16 Cooper ST's, highway with some camp gear in the back cruising around 110-120kmph been averaging 11.3L/100km. These are manual calculations.
Brother in-Law recently bought new 3l Turbo Dsle 4x4 stock standard and he is getting 8.1L/100k :( :(

Just thought ide share something with you all that i came to realise the other day. Kind of like an epiphany you could say  well I was driving my truck up to Moree to visit some mates last weekend and couldnt figure out why when a sign on the side of the road said 'x' number of k's to go till the next town that my trip computer was always off.

I then proceeded to plug my chip it obdII reader into the car and found out that even though i have regeared my truck to suit the 33's and have a speedo corrector that makes it reads perfectly spot on the the kay, the trip computer and im assuming odometer still goes straight off the gearbox sensor which was still reading 6km/h slow. So in actual fact while my speedo reads exactly the speed im doing (calibrated and tested using 3 seperate gps units at once when installed) the car itself still reads slow.

So what does all this mean? Well for every 100 k's I travel in the car, i need to add an extra 6 k's onto the trip computer and hence my fuel consumption calculations as well. Seeing as though I just had a long range tank fitted just before i left its a bit hard to use the old tank figures but I was able to go 1250k's on 130L. Which works out at 10.4 L/100 (calculated not with the computer obviously) which im very happy with seeing as though I was carrying 4 people in the car and a canopy full of luggage.

This comes just after changing my injectors to the new DLC ones as well so I was not able to get the correct adjusted calculations from the old ones. With how modified and how heavy my truck is Im stoked with that figure.

Has anyone else with 33's and a speedo corrector encounted the same thing? I suggest having a look because you might find your truck is getting better economy than you think.

Same deal, I am running 32's and my speedo reads spot on to my gps without any speedo correction unit fitted but as you have said my odometer is about 5 % out

Which speedo correction unit are you using? The Marks adaptors unit goes off this sensor from the gearbox. So if the odometer goes off the same sensor, then they should both be correct.

My speedo is spot on and backed up by GPS.....I havent done any investigation into the odometer yet, as I didnt think I needed to but now that its been brought up it may pay to look into it further.

best tank Ive recently had was 11.5 per 100km round town.

that still better than my wifes stock 4x2 Kluger we just picked up. cant complain too much there.....with a regear it would be even better.

How much fuel can you put in your standard tank. I don't let it get low normally but I had trouble finding fuel last night and got down to 1k range left on my computer but can still only fit 68 litres into it. I dont think I have ever managed to get 70l into it yet.

Just curious to see how accurately the gauges are calibrated
