Hardlid installation problem - water gets in

Postby oslars on Sat, 16 Oct 2010 5:47 +0000

Hey Guys
I have a SR5 DUAL CAB that was just fixed , tail gate damage.
I bought a hardlid that was charcoal off ebay and had it sprayed silver when my car was fixed
turned out great.
I installed today but have a couple of questions if you guys don't mind.

1) I thought the hardlid would have gone over the tub at the back between the cabain and tub
but it doesn't. The seal in that area seems crap and noticed that rain gets in (it pissed down as i drove home from my brother factory where i put it on) I need it to stay dry for my tools
I will post a pic of what i mean

2) not sure about a part will post pic of it

Great site

Regards

Chris

HI Chris,

This was the exact issue, that i had as well, So what i did was

1. removed the steel guard thing between the tub and cabin. Your may already be gone

2. i bought a late 09 hard lid which does go all the way over the part you mention, when i had it repsrayed to my colourcode the panel beaters also, used sikaflex to seal the parts that are screwed to the tub on the inner side.

3. I now have ZERO leaks, if you want pics let me know and i'll post them to explain.

Cheeers

I've been trying to work out what H20PRF was, so after seeing the pics in your shed I now understand.
Would be kind of ironic if you had a vehicle that leaks water. :)

Anyone noticed all the posting dates are corrupted?
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

Are they actually corrupted? I thought they were just older posts that people were reviewing, so I just gave them a quick glance rather than a good look.

Rob, it appears whenever 'bumped by anonymous' the old posts come to notice. Some of my previous posts have had dates which are incorrect.

Who is 'anonymous' and how does one 'bump' a thread?

All good questions, to which I have no reasonable response I'm afraid. Maybe one of the Mods or Admins will be able to offer a better illucidation?
