Hi guys, just did an eBay search for the tdc chip, they are on there at a buy it now price of $150 aud. Is this the same chip we are talking about on this thread or is it a rip off version? Cheers.

yeah a mate of mine has had one fitted to his lux for a few years now his is a 05 with 200 000 on it ex miner and hes got 2 inch lift 32" Ats and he hits fuel light at like 700.. he noticed a big improvement when fitting the chip, i begun looking into it and just as soon as i was ready to commit i found this thread and felt like i died a little inside :(. really do hope they eventually make one for our model one day... i just cant justify spending upwards of 500 bucks on a chip and the only real option is steinbaur which involve dyno and if i go to all that trouble and dont see a decent improvement its going to be a big kick in the teeth 0.0

Has anyone tried this on a later model hilux? As in maybe the bug from switching originally in 07 might now be ok?
Why not? Have a go!

Direct quote - "The unit is installed directly to the common rail pressure sensor".

Well f**k me theres the problem right there fellas, all this chip does increase the fuel rail pressure - which is the most unsafe and stupid way of pushing more fuel through the injectors and hello limp codes. No its not an ECU fault at all, look at the DP, taipan, power box, roo systems, chip it and any other chip that has the one connector etc they all do the same thing which is connect to the fuel rail pressure sensor and no surprise they all give trouble.. Would you really trust a china made $150 chip to reliably make 20-30% more power for the life of a $50,000 vehicle???

Only steinbauer, diesel smart or the old VMN chip connect to each injector directly and stay away from the fuel rail sensor entirely and the safest way to go if you want more power. The HKS chip plugs directly into the ECU and is probably the best way to go for reliability. Like Maxx said id rather re-gear and exhaust / snorkel and let the reliable factory ecu do its thing

Hey guys i just ordered a TDC chip for my 2006 hilux so yes 3 pin. I'll let you know how it goes its not a TDC Plus as ive heard and seen reviews of the people who have brought them saying it makes your hilux go into limp mode all the time. As for the $150 more people are happy with and have seen some dyno figures and seems pretty damn good having 20% extra power and 30% more torque i cant complain about that. Just have to wait and see if it works :)

There's two chips, ones a German made chip for $165 called the "black one" and another one for $150, anyone tried the German one on an 07 hilux or newer ? Reviews on eBay are all good and in the pics it shows 6 pin plug.

Actually it says Important, after purchase we need the following information to put the appropriate software on the tuning chip and to send you the correct cable.
-year of construction,
kW or hp
Engine litre size

They have obviously sorted the issue between the 07 and earlier model... :D

I wont lie...it made a difference on acceleration and much less gear downs on hills and overtakes.During the one week i had it on i drove it for 600kms and i still had another quarter in tank (usually i get 650ish) when got into limp mode.I guess i could easily do another 150km.What it did was just raise the rail pressure which is no good for these cars.To answer your question No i didnt ask them anything in advance coz it was suggested by a friend of mine and that he warranties for it (dic....ead).Good thing in this was the no ask questions from the supplier for returning it back

I asked them about the limp mode b4 sending it back and they replied that they need some pics of the engine bay just to make sure it was the right product sent to me.Thats not an answer when the purchase was with the engine model and year

I received the chip Friday last week and must say wow what an impressive improvmemt of proformance. Its gettinf way better power then i was before. Its settinf standard is 12 and ive bumped it to 15 maxium is 24. But 15 is perfect for me, i can manage to get up steep hills on 4th gear

Front Bulbar
REAR BAR
2 spare wheels
Canopy
Winch
33 inch tyres
Long range tank
Roofrack and led bar lights
4 inch profender suspension
3 inch Extreme Duty Redback straight through to a muffler rear

Must admit for thw weight she contantly carries its a great product

$150 ebay

I had a thought with the price ots sounded dodgy but it proformans same as a dp chip. Acordining to OBD2 Live Data Scan tools have not yet dynoed but i know for a fact theres more power
