Furthermore on road removing it can negatively affect the ute's handling, especially around corners.

Of course if you don't hoon around you probably wouldn't notice it, especially if you went with stiffer aftermarket springs but if you did somehow get into an accident and it was found the swaybar had been removed you can kiss goodbye to any chance of the insurance paying out

Not worth it. Why not try some sliding swaybar links? Best of both worlds...

Have had mine off now and then. Offroad it feels great, really free's up the front end flex. Also with it removed allows you to run a more high clearance bashplate.
Onroad with my 4 year old suspension it didn't feel very safe at high speeds... If i where to have to swerve out of the way suddenlly i reckon i would of lost it... :?

I would just remove it when going offroad. Then when you refit it it give you time to look under your vehicle for damage/ problems arising .
Did you find any improvements offroad?

Mate i didnt give it to much of a test as i was at a relatives farm but it was feelig alot better goin over drop offs and climbs. I felt the car was like a bit of a boat on the freeway but mrs drove it to work yesterday an said it felt no different. Hoping to give it a good try this weekend at zigzag tho.

Adverse handeling depends on the suspension setup you run.

With my first suspension fitted when I bought my hilux, the front end was noticeably boaty feeling round corners and would dip more so on the outer side when cornering, so I refitted it.

With my current suspension there is no difference driving on the road and I have had it removed for a good year or so now with out any issue.

I found with it removed you get more uptravel (so may increase rubbing within the fenders) and the IFS works much better offroad.

Stiffer suspension will help but it has more to do with the valving in the coilovers and the way its setup than anything else.

Previously I had Desert Fox Foam Cells shocks and dobinsons coils...great setup for the money and outperformed many top end products at the time (2007/08).

I now run the Monster Rides Rekon coilovers (for the past 2 years now) and the valving on them is seriously hard to beat this side of the pacific. Thats not including the upgraded DMS coilovers that those owners can comment on.

Max with your 35's fitted do you still run your swaybar? Would you have more clearance issues only running a 3in lift without a swaybar fitted Ie. more uptravel = less clearance

Cheers skottie

Skottie, as mentioned I do not run a swaybay. That being said I don't throw my hilux around on the street like a 180SX driftcar either

I do run progressive bumpstops with a 6mm spacer behind them to limit uptravel 12mm. I found that to be a sweet spot for me.

But with hard compression offroad I still rarely "just" touch the top of the inner fender (behind the inner plastic liner which I don't run) but only enough to just scuff the paint.
