2" or 4" ifs lift on 05 new model hilux?

Postby LUX4WD on Fri, 30 Mar 2012 4:04 +0000

Hi guys, as said above im tossing between a 2"" lift and 4" lift for my hilux!! I do around 200kms of highway driving everyday so dont want the car to handle like a piece of shit!! Though i would rather the offroad clearance and the chance to fit 33s! What do you guys rkn? Is there a 4" lift you can get which is good on and offroad?

Cheers

3" and diff drop brackets will solve all the cv angle problems

How would the 3" be on the road? If you had an idea?

If you were told 3" werent possible coz of CV angles, how do you think 4" would work? :? Bit of a silly statement if you ask me

Ultimate Suspension Smart Lift.
3.5" lift with dropped crossmember brackets, crossmember support arms, reinforced and lengthened steering knuckle support brackets, longer HD leaf springs and longer HD front coil overs with custom valved shocks that are totally rebuild able.
Also diff relocation brackets, steering rack spacers and longer HD tie rods/rack ends. All this together keeps the front driveline and steering at stock angles whilst increasing lift. There's also front prop shaft spacer and rear prop shaft support bearing spacers.
Look them up, they're a forum sponsor. Service is second to none and they'll fine tune the kit to your load carrying requirements etc.
I have had this kit in for over 18 months and couldn't be happier. I've got 33's and the on road handling and ride is an absolute shitload better than standard. It handles as good as my VT Calais with FE2 suspension, that's pretty bloody good for a lifted
fourby!
The only downside which is slight, is that dropped crossmember brackets leave you with less under front ground clearance than a similar lift height without these brackets. I've just got a tough as shit custom bash plate under front and skull drag the thing over obstacles that may be a little high. That said, with larger tyres also you do still increase that clearance over standard amount so I'm happy to trade off a little less front clearance than a shock/spring only lift for the amazing increase in on road handling.
It's probably one of the only kits around that has been designed to be able to get an engineers certificate easily without any further mods as long as tyres are kept inside guards and no more than 33".
It's pricey($5400 when i got mine, plus fitting)but worth it.
If ur in Vic I can fit for u too but give em a call and they'll look after u very well.
BTW I have no vested interest in the company I'm just very happy with my kit and the quality of their stuff and have installed a couple of kits for them in the past.
