George, If it is an SR, the only option is the ARB locker on the front due to full time 4WD and no ADD nwhihch will mean the locker will be engaged all th etime even in 2WD on the highway.. Not sure if the others you listed have a version to suit the front diff.

My old man runs a front lokka from 4wdsystems in his cruiser & is wrapped with it had no troubles what so ever, though he has to use the right foot a little more having both wheels spinning together, especially in the sand.

I was told buy an ARB store not to run a front locker in a IFS Hilux as they are prone to smashing front drive shatfs from when the wheel goes from spinning in the air to the ground spinning and loading up to quickly. But i had a 99 lux before my 06 and i always wished i had a front locker as my rear LSD was great & felt like it only needed a front locker.

front lockers reduce this as when the wheel is lifted it is spinning at the same speed as the other wheels and the same speed as the ground, so when the wheel comes in contact again there is much less loading up compared to an open diff.

with the lokka, it is an auto locker. the way it allows the differential movement is by allowing one wheel to over speed the drive tray.

you can fit an auto locker to the sr tb/leaf. but you will have to replace the auto hub to manual, wreckers 30 bucks each.

no hilux if full time 4wd.

man different options for locking the diffs, all the diff will lock up when needed its what they do when you want the differential action

one of my mates had an auto locker in the front of his 99 model with auto locking hubs and there was no issues. i have an air locker in the front of mine same as my mates. i did break an axle and cvs my mate did break cv but no axles. as for other issues with auto lockers once my mate was driving up a rock ledge and the car slipped side ways and landed on the rear tail shaft he did drive like a knob but at least with an air locker u can choose not to engage

The auto locking hubs on the previous gen hilux SR5's and the current gen hilux's are a different setup, which is why you can run auto's on previous shape but not on current....pretty sure I wrote a good explanation on how the current gen setup works in the driveline section on the 6th gen section.

Ive been wondering about the same thing. I have an IFS 99 Hilux single cab trayback but I want a rear locker to counteract the limited travel from the leaf springs. I have 2 inch suspension lift and 31inch cheapie muddies. Anyone have any ideas to help me out get more of the hilux, and im sure ur answers for me will also help this other bloke:) Cheers

I've just upgraded the suspension on my IFS 2000 SR5. I also put in front and rear air lockers. All done by ARB. The ride certainly has improved with less body roll. Haven't tested the lockers yet. ;)

If you can afford them get ARB's front and back although plenty of ppl have had success running the LOKKA up front... if you're not in a hurry keep an eye on the second hand market, that's how I got mine and saved about 2k in the process.

hi bud i have a 2000 extra cab with manual hubs and i have front and rear lokkers from 4wd systerms i love them but i recomend that if you buy a rear one like me i would send your diff center less the crown wheel to them because if you dont get the shims right it will not work
dont give up till its broken and then try 1 more time
