Very nice lookin rig!... I see you have the new style 764 bighorns too... they don't look a lot different, but still great tyre. Do you know if the price has gone up from the MT762?

Thanks jake,

Yeah the 762 isn't in stock at the moment so that was the only option with them. There isn't a huge noticeable difference between the two other then the side biters and the tread blocks are designed a little different to help clear the mud. I also opted to have the writing on the inside wall because it is quite chunky on them and i didn't like it on the outside.. They are a bit dearer but i got them for the same price as the 762's.

The tread is quite a bit different compared to the previous bighorns.....and the newer ones come in a 3ply sidewall when the previous ones had the soft as butter 2 ply walls.

Heres a comparison pic between the two -

Newer one has larger tread voids both on the outer edges of the tread face aswell as the center....and the tread design is alot like the Toyo Open Country MT.

Troy, says 2.7 on the side of the door ;)

Welcome Jpathy....nice neat hilux....why the hell you want to destroy and devalue it by fitting a commodore V6 beats me.....I'd say thats a backward step.

Ive heard of problems from people fitting crappydore engines into hilux's as the crappydore engines arent designed for offroading and end up breaking stuff.....stick with what you got...the 3RZ is a proven performer, very strong and quality engine...loves aftermarket mods....you can fit extractors to them to allow them to breath more, theres TRD supercharger kits for them aswell as turbo kits....

The 2TR FE engine in the current model hilux's is basically a 3RZ with VVTi heads and ECU fitted to it...so theres one option.

The 3RZ is alot lighter engine and not that far behind than a 5VZ 3.4 V6 that also came out in your model, if you take the weight benefits of the 4 cylinder than your infront....Hilux's hate having big heavy engines in their engine bay.

Theres heaps you can do with your rig mate....do go stuffing it by putting a holden engine in it.

welcome to the forum :ugeek:

Hey guys, I kind of forgot all about this and came across it and thought whoops...

From the top

@rodfather - Yeah i built the sub box myself, i'm a motor trimmer by trade

@helmut79 - Thanks

@mmaaxx - My plans have changed, it seems you are very right about the commodore V6 so instead i have bought a turbo kit for the 3RZ and am hoping to get that fitted when i have some more money.

@jack s - Thankyou, i really like this shape

@Andy02lux - It is the one linked above, i picked it up for $700 from JB Hi-Fi.

Also, a bit has changed to it since i did this post so i will update you all on where its at.

First and fore most the commodore V6 i out the window, and istead i have bought a bolt on turbo kit made for the 3RZ that will be fitted when i have a little bit more money for the mechanic.

And a fair few things have been crossed off the to do list such as:
Spotties on the front - 22" LED light bar now fitted
Winch - 12000lb Ironman winch fitted
Canopy - Ordered and deposit paid, should have it in about 8 weeks from carryboy
Tray re spray - Booked in for 4 weeks time
WRX Front bucket seats - Trimmed and installed
Colour coded bullbar - Painted silver to match the flares
Led Tail lights - All globes changed to SMD LED's
Projector headlights - Fitted and wired with 35W HID low beam and 55w HID Highbeam

Which leaves me with a fairly small list but i have added a roof top tent and BRC breathers to it and i also have a 42" LED Light bar to go on the canopy.

Heres some updated pics.

WRX Buckets trimmed to match the rest of my trim, these are a little bit of a pain to get in and out of because of the side bolsters but once you are in they are the most comfortable and supportive seat you could ever install.
Image

Bar back from the painter in silver to match the flares
Image

The bar after putting it all back together before mounting it back on the lux, thought i'd turn the LED's on to show what they are like.
Image

New projector head lights with clear indicators
Image
Image
Image

Winch mounted
Image
Winch control box mounted behind the grill out of sight and out of the way, have made a extension cable for it so i can just use the controller from inside the cab
Image

HID Ballasts mounted out of the way
Image

Bar fitted back on the car, i also fitted LED DRL's aswell
Image
Image

And for arguments sake my new 42" LED light bar

Thanks mate, I think it looks pretty good too. Looked really tuff without the bar but i really like the bar in silver allot more then before in hammer tone. And LED's are a much nicer light and draw bugger all which make it good for extra lights when camping etc.

Thanks guys.

It certainly lights up the night which is great when out wheeling or on dark roads. When all lights up front are on and your looking at it coming up the road it just looks like one big light coming at you. But i don't want to make it too over the top where things look added on for no purpose and i think the balance is good at the moment.
