Hey mate nice Lux I really like what you've done with it. Can you tell me where you got your fuel tank (cell) from? I've got a 96 dual cab Lux that I'm very slowly doing up and would like to install a bigger tank like you've done maybe to give it room for coils but to at least up the fuel capacity. Also how do you think your tray would go covering the tyres if you went with a gu rear diff instead of a gq?

Cheers bud,
Jacob

hey mate

i dont really know where the tank was made. i was told long range automotive by the guy who orginally had a crack at doing my suspension and failed

but after going down to LRA because it is made terrible, they deny it and their stamp which they weld on all tanks is not there. They just wouldnt make a tank in this way either, judging by the way its poorly made. Im guessing the guy doing the suspension made it....long story

But i would go to LRA in Lillydale and see what they can do.

My tyres stick out a bit now with the gq diff, so will be worse obviously with the GU. Dont think ill need a GU rear tho

I have now installed guages (oil pressure, trans temp, volts and water temp), some crappy flares, recovery hooks and borrowed some rope to take it on a drive this weekend

Next is to tune the shocks i think, its way to stiff because the spring rates are all wrong

Love it...

What size shocks are you running? 16" or 18"...

Cheers mate

There actually 10" front 12" rear

Won't really get much more travel in the front with a standard 3 link system. I'd prefer mainly up travel too for hitting stuff hard

Ned, what events you planning on running since the Vic Winch series is pretty much non existant anymore?

The Vic winch race scene could be back sooner rather than later. So hopefully if all goes well ill be racing any of those events when I can. I can't really do any other events with how the car is set up now

Took it on its maiden voyage to the Strathbogies on the weekend. It went pretty well considering the suspension isn't tuned correctly (very stiff) and I don't have lockers

The barwork works awesome and is missing paint to show it :D

You said it can't really go in any other comp with how it is setup!
What actually makes a winch truck a 'winch truck' and why can't it gO in other comps...

The only other event i would want to enter is offroad racing.

For that i would need more suspension travel, drop some barwork and panels on the rear. I could do it with fibreglass panels or using the sides of a tub and just entering for some fun. But there are bigger costs involved in travelling to the event and other things the car would need

Ill be happy doing day trips in it for now :D

We will hopefully be running a couple of comps next year if we can sort the driveway out. We ran a series of the engel a couple of years ago & everyone who entered loved it. Just need some dry weather to make it all happen.

Sweet as

I didnt get to make it up there for the last ones, but looking at the footage my barwork would come in handy

Yep sure will. Your ute looks sweet as. At the moment the driveway could be a stage in itself hopefully over summer if its dry we will get a chance to fix it
