2007 SR 4x4 (first 4x4)

Postby HOWHII on Fri, 21 Jan 2011 1:32 +0000

Hi all,,,

Basically joined the forum to read up on these cars and mods, and basically to ask a few questions along the way...

I Purchased this SR Auto Turbo Diesel for around the 27k mark (which im hoping was a good buy), it has aprox 100,000km on it and is a 2007 model, Overall its in good nik, it has a few small dents, interior looks to be in good condition except for the 4x4 gear stick cover (plastic is brokin) its also missing one of the cup holder covers on the passenger side... From what i can tell it has a ARB Front and Back bar...

I currently have a work car so this wont see to much time on the road, however looking into starting my own plumbing business early next year so this will eventually be my work ute aswell...

In the near future id like to put some bigger tyres 32/33 on some black Sunraysias, Black SR5 Sports Bar, lift kit, and eventually change the tub so i can put a hard top on it...

This is all new to me, ive always been into cars but never really 4x4's

Will keep you updated with a future build thread...

welcome to the site..

that boot on your transfer case shifter is a pretty easy fix.. as you can see its only stapled / glued in anyway, so its just a simple matter of removing the upper section of the centre console (two screws in bottom of centre arm rest console), unscrew both auto shifter knob and transfer case shift knob, remove little plastic piece under handbrake and simply pull that plastic section upwards..

it;ll leave behind a small plastic section on the floor and you'll just be removing the top section.. once removed you can reattach that boot back inside with some good glue..

Cheers

I still think the car was looked after, i made sure all the things that were wrrong with it were easy to fix, as said mechanicaly its A1, no rips or wear on the seats, body n paint in good condition etc etc

What do you all think of the price i paid?

Instead of making a new thread i was wondering if a few people could give me some advice/opinions in regards to getting a lift and tyres,

Basicaly i wanna get 16x8 or 15x8 Black Sunraysias, I wanna get bigger tyres that will fit straight on, (before i get a lift kit done), im unsure on a size that will fit straight on or a good brand of tyre, bassicaly i will be doing less then 20,000km a year, but want something good for doing a bit of offroad stuff with also???

Any recomendations?

also in regards to getting a lift kit, ive done a quick search but are there any threads in regards to hieght vs cost? Will i have to do the lift kit before i get biggger tyres?

You can safely put on 31 inch tyres without a lift kit.

31x 10.5 x15 or 265/70 x 16 depending on your wheel size.

Do a search, there are plenty of answers there. You've got a lot of reading .........

Welcome mate. I'm happy with Mickey Thompson mtz's. They are a lil noisy, but not deafening! I've got good wear out of em so far but have only done 10k on them

Finally saved up enough cash to to the 2" lift kit and get some 32"s, i just don't wanna get ripped off, Ive done a search on brands but cant really find much on the average cost for the above... any one have any input?

Will have some pics asap

Sports Bars are on, will post pics when i get a chance...

Looks like ill be getting the Ironman 2" Lift Kit, I will be installing it myself so if anyone can provide a good link with a bit of a guide that would be great.

Thinking of getting these wheels instead of sunrasias but still not 100% sure, can someone confirm what these are? they look like M/T Classic II???

Howhii,

Hi mate, you can fit a set of 265/75 R16 on sunraysiers with zero offset without a lift kit.....
I went to the tyre shop today 

**note you might need the sr5 wheel arch flares to fit these on as they will poke out about 30mm from the guard but shouldn't rub I had this combo on my lux before the lift and it was fine on a 7" rim though...

Good luck
