so her is my story. only 21 and live in sydney. been a toyota fan ever since i got my L's. first car was a 2005 model corolla sportivo. was my pride and joy and after loosing my licence twice it had to go. plus the addition of a new Quintrex Offshore 6.6m 2 tonne boat. so a quick summary is i needed a car that had style, new, slow( hence the diesel but have come to realise there not so slow), able to pull a 2 tonne boat long distances, and something that is just pratical and comfortable. Havent got my licence back yet so took my time shopping aound for some hiluxes in the colour and type i wanted. after 2+ months of waiting i found the rite one for me and have just picked it up 2 weeks ago. will uploads picks soon. 2007 model SR5 white in colour with hard cover and spotties on roll bar and on the nudge bar. Diesel auto with 48,000kms on the clock. came with 22" wheels that i have replaced with original ones. Now what is troubling me is its a 2007 SR5 model but it has the new 2008 model series 2 front grille, front bar, steering wheel with controls and the the series 2 mag wheels. i thought the new facelift hilux's came in mid 2008? can someone explain to me why mine has the facelift goodies? i know the car has not had any major hits or anything.

have wasted no time in leaving it the way it is. have done a few things. just want to know how can i get the steering wheel controls to work with my pioneer dvd player. the controls for the info have also stopped working. is there a way around this?

haha been there done that champ. prefer the single life. can go fishing and around the bush when ever i feel like it. my boss has a 60,000 acre farm 8 hours away so will probably be heading there very soon to give the lux a beating.

hey m8 congrats on your new lux purchase :D with the dvd unit you can get a a little processer unit called a cat10 and it can process the steering wheel controls to infared or via a 3.5mm jack ya can get them from jb hifi to suit your head unit

Hey simon, from memory those little units are about $200 from autobarn, not cheap if ya ask me, maybe someone does them cheaper. I got one or something similar for my ss, works well.

calling out to all the 4x4 info kings. i have a bit of a issue. i want to do a few things to the lux but need some suggestions and ideas. have been strolling through threads for a while now and still am a bit lost on what to do. i want to fit some prado wheels with decent rubber for normal onroad business with the rare trip to the sand or dirt road. nothing serious or anywhere near the terrain as to what some of the guys here are doing. at this stage dont want to raise the car just yet so i dont want to have the trouble of rubbing issues at full lock either. throw some brands and models my way please.

i also want to add some more balls to the truck for towing purposes. my boat hits the scales just shy of 2 tonnes. i like to travel to nelson bay or if im lucky enough travel to south west rocks once a year to wet the lines. now an exhaust and maybe a chip are on the cards. will probably order a TJM underguard soon but have no idea who or were to order this from either. this is my first ever 4x4 so at the moment feel like a man on mars. need some guidance please.

Welcome to the forum. nice setup too.

Well what can i say, the man has holes in his pockets. Better put a container under him to catch the cash flow. I've made my choices and I can tell you it wasn't easy. Just when you think you have it all pegged out, you talk to people and that forces you to do more homework, only to find out what you have in mind really may give you problems later if your unlucky. It depends on what your goal is at the end of the day when it comes to off road capability, loading up and towing. Tyres and rims also dictate the type of terrain you want to work with and if you want to tow your boat, you may want to consider air bellows on medium rear leaf springs while your loaded and light truck tyres for better handling and load capacity and it goes on and on. I would suggest you do the same as me and spend a couple of months every night reading up and asking questions. You'll be satisfied with the end result as being your own choices rather than taking everyone else's advice which may or may not suit your specific needs right down to keeping your vehicle legal for insurance reasons.

Use the search function, browse and even read though the sheds here too. It all helps. I believe this is the best place to find the info your after and Google is also your friend.

Good luck.
