New Hilux Owner

New Hilux Owner

Postby benpascoe on Mon, 21 Jun 2010 9:06 +0000

Hi Guys,

Have just sold my HSV GTS and pick up a new 2010 SR5 Black Thunder Hilux on Thursday.

Not entirely new to the 4x4 after having owned several modified ones in the past. The most recent a GQ Patrol with 35, lockers etc etc.

The hilux I will try to keep a bit cleaner, considering its black.

Im interested to know your thoughts on lifting the lux 2" or so to fit 265 Cooper STs to it. What should it cost, what should I use, where should I go?

Look forward to your thoughts.

Cheers,

Ben

Welcome to the site Ben !

Gee.. GTS to SR5.. You wont notice the difference at all !

'Legally' a 2" lift is the most you can do without engineering. What to get and where to get it.. thats a matter of mass-debate (dont get exited MadDog! ;)..

Basically, do a search on here, check out the suspension and tire bible's then pitch what you want against all the retailers until you get a deal you're happy with !

Cheers

Welcome to the forum Ben, good to see you finally got yourself a Hilux... what did you end up doing with the 75 series?

Which engine did you get, the Diesel or Petrol?

Check out the various areas as Steve has mentioned but as you are from Perth, don't hesitate to drop by Ultimate 4WD (site sponsor) and speak with the boys up there or Coastal 4x4 either of which are good shops to get gear through, I'm sure they will both look after you if you say you're a NewHilux.net member.

Cheers, Dave

Dave,

Didnt end up selling the gts until now so never moved to the 75 series.

I will be sure to speak to Vance and the lads to see what pricing they can do.

Thanks for your welcome guys.

I look forward to the next day out.

Hey Benpascoe ,

As you are from Perth i noticed in previous post's that you have been considering going to one of the 4x4 store's for some upgrades to your new hilux (I would love to mention their name), if you would like to pm me i would tell you about my experience with that store and it was definately not good. After dropping almost 20k with them i have had nothing but issue's with them and countless trip's back canning vale. Slowly i'm sorting through all these problems but it's costing me taking the car elsewhere and i must also state that their aftercare is nothing but shameless. They should stick with fitting out mining vehicles only. :x :x :x :x :x

So the mods have started...well even before I pick the car up.

I have just ordered a new set of custom plates - D4D LUX

I think its kind of catchy.

Also ordered some snake racing Front levelling strut spaces.

Next I plan on looking for some tyres.

BFG are doing a deal with a free black max air compressor with any set of tyres bought prior to July but I do like the Cooper St's over the BFG Mudders.

Also, looking to get a different set of front and rear speakers installed and possibly a sub (if one can be fitted).

That was totally uncalled for Steve. Now if you'll excuse me it's knock off time and it's been a stressful day. I'm going to crack open a hand shandy........................
