New Luxooory

Postby buggerlux on Mon, 15 Jun 2009 10:30 +0000

Hi Ive owned a hilux 84 SR5 for 23 years.(445000kms) Finally the chassis accumulated mud and the moisture rusted around the rear spring and she let go.
Bit the bullet and bought a 07.
Shes a Petrol AUTO 5 Speed Dual which suits my needs.

Bit different to the old one with a 2.2 Tarago motor in it. Im sad to see the old girl go after 23 years.
She started every day. I think the only time she failed was when a wire come off the battery. That would be my lack of maintenance.

The mud built up in the chassis probably had salt water accumulation too. Once you have reliability you find it hard to let it go. She towed a 300 kg trailer everyday too for much of that time. She'd had her day. She departs, the trusty old girl.

Ahhh... be still my beating heart!

I had the same model in yellow. Quality truck. It was my first car actually.

I'm sure your sad to see 'Her' go after such a long time.

Does "She" have a name?
My 84 was called Bertha.
Current truck is called Turbo!

Might start a new post regarding truck names!!

I'm now onto my 5th Hilux and will say that this new model is the best truck on road by a country mile.
Off road worst to date!

But considering I spend 95% of my time on road makes a lot of sense!

Plenty of good people and lots of information here on NewHilux, welcome!

Cheers
Matt

Welcome mate

This brings back memories to me as my first Hilux was a 85 single cab diesel, and yellow. Did me well and sold it with 387,000km on it and until recently still saw it getting around. Weakest thing in it was 5th gear. Got to find an old photo of it and remember the good old times.
