4runner makeover

Postby PTE Terry Norris on Sun, 31 Oct 2010 7:41 +0000

First of all I would like to give my apologies if there is already a thread on this topic. Not a computer person at all.
After my recent vist to the ghan, I was injured and now have 8 months with nothing to do, last week I headed for the family farm in central nsw and dug my old 94 4runner out of the shed, v6 petrol & 5speed over al it's a very Clean truck.
Now with something to do, I'm after some good solid suggestion for the old girl, I looking at a v8 conversion, what would be most suitable application for the 4runner from the heart through to the arse, to handle some Serious off road use, but still suitable for on road use . From what I know it's a 3VZ-E 3.0 EFI v6, IFS, rear coils.
Any ideas and suggestion will be appreciated ,
My budget on this is approximately 25K for cosmetics and surgery.
Cheers

I already own a 09 turbo diesel duel cab hilux, bought last year brand new. It's our family run-a-bout, The 4runner was my first 4x4 and I'm in need of a good toy for fun in the bush, and i dont have the heart to part with it, lots of good time in the old girl, I like the look of the runner and it will make a good project that we as a family can all go out to play in, with out the worry of to much damage.

Depends what you mean by "seroius offroad use" tho IMO start with a coil SAS & 1UZ conversion.
There have been many SAS's done so lots of info for which ever way you want to do it.
Same for 1UZ's and Lextreme is agood place for info.

Take your time and do it right the first time IMO.
