Dashboard removal

Postby mlg1803 on Mon, 19 Jul 2010 12:03 +0000

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to this forum and just spent the day basically rooting around in here checking everything out and am liking what I see...
I do have a question though and would like some help/guidance in removing my dashboard so I can clean all the crap out uot of it!
I bought my '04 petrol 4x4 tray back in Feb this year and it is absolutely filthy and smell behind the dash! I want to pull it out and clean it up...

has anyone done this and is it a tough job? any tricks to keep an eye out for?

I feel I will be using this forum a bit as I plan to do a bunch of mods to her once I get going... Got to sort out the priorities first!

Thanks in advance,

Goldy.

I am not sure, but I think the top just clips onto the bottom section and if you pull it the clips let go. I guess there will be clips up the top too. I pulled two of these hooks out either side of the ashtray yesterday so I could get the ashtray out. The console comes apart the same way.

I took the radio fascia off first so I could get a grip on the dash panel, then pulled the dash up until the clips came out. To remove the radio fascia, pull off the 3 knobs and undo the screw behind them middle one, then pull it off. I then removed the white A/c controls, just push the clips each end with a small screwdriver so it comes out. I then had a good look incase I could see any screws but couldn't

Yeah its all pretty straught forward......just take your time and be careful as there are alot of clips, screws, 10mm bolts etc.

start by removing the kick panels, then remove the steering wheel column top and bottom covers, remove the cluster display.

Remove the center console as it hides some lower dash clips, rmeove the radio fascia and ashtray and just slowly work your way around. you'll be right.

FYI, all done! the amount of crap I got of it was insane! I had pull the entire aircon apart and wash out all the junk in the fan!
Fan is now quiet and she doesn't smell funky anymore!

Thanks guys!
