Hey im thinking of buying a 1996 2.4l petrol hilux with 280000km's, do you think this is too many?

Hi bubba, I would say it's pushing it. Depends how it has been treated really.

For a diesel it wouldn't be too bad but a petrol engine is really only good for 300,000 or thereabouts then it will need a rebuild, unless it's really been looked after.

Best to do an mechanical check and get the compression tested etc...
